Buttons and fashion shown in the exhibition "Déboutonner la mode" at the Musée des Arts Decoratifs, Paris, in 2015.
I got these self-covering buttons in a cross stitch magazine and the small motifs I make with tatting seemed the perfect detail. They look so cute! I used calico to cover the buttons and then kind of laced the motifs on before putting the back onto the button to hold everything down. Very simple but so visually stunning! Next time I'm in town I'm going to see if I can find some more buttons like these!

My buttons for PAX came today! The giraffe ones printed darker than I expected, but they are still cute. How could a flying giraffe ever not be cute? :D

so, I have decided to re-arrange my scrapbook room.
I haven't scrapbooked in like forever. I am going to clean things out and make it a scrapbook/craft/makeshift ghetto studio for pics.
Do people still use buttons for scrapbooking? eeeek, I hope so!

I've started this silly little Tumblr blog dedicated to powerful buttons - buttons on electrical devices that suggest they make your device do a better job of what it usually does with little explanation.
It's proving a slow start though, particularly as so much of the electrical shit around my house is made by Apple, who seem to have a bit of a hatred for superfluous buttons.
I've got some more in mind, I just need to find them to photo them. Buttons like 'Mega Bass', 'Sports Mode', or 'Overdrive'. You can contribute your own finds by emailing your own pics in at the address on the site!

I am proud of this minor dressmaking success.
This navy dress had 7 golden buttons at the rear, which poked into my spine whenever leaned back on a chair. I bought alternative blue and gold buttons from the local haberdashers and sewed them on myself. I hadn't realised how much the discomfort had put me off wearing the dress until these new flatter buttons were sewn on.
I luv buttons because they are a link to yesteryear and I luv the
Lone Star flag of Texas as a 6th generation Texas .........
soooooooo the two of them together to me is super special!!

The stuff written on my fingers is what I have those buttons configured to do in games (eg. TF2).

In other news I got a diffuser for my flash today. It was about $5 off ebay, delivered from hong kong. Seems to work as expected :)

The purple set of buttons: One said 'Imagine' and I put it inside a jewelry box so when mamaphunk opened the box it was there. I put the 2 matching buttons underneath it. To the right of that are the 2 bobbypins made by gluing vintage buttons on them; next to that is the cupcake cell phone charm Dawn made. The 5 buttons just above the carded ones: Dawn took photos of some of my favorite buttons and made pin-backed buttons out of them! She has 4 different-sized button makers that she saved and saved for, so cool to have. Craftster
we made buttons out of "tristeza, no me dejas en paz (new wave love song)" (linocut), "busca tu verdad" (acrylic painting) and "hamza cosmica" (linocut). next time we'll make sure everything has good contrast, but i'm verrry happy with the results this first time around.
