All over the weekend I was thinking - I should have gotten Blossom Flower Pot - and I couldn't wait until today when I went and found the perfect one from K-mart and put her on Layby! Yay!!
I went to Myer and they had one random Jewel Sparkles who didn't even have a shelf! My God - they are $49.95 there! I asked if they Price Matched and apparently they do!!! But ONLY if it's the identical item (and according to the lady the identical character as well) and only if it is their normal price - ie Targét's normal price is $35.00 and they were willing to sell Jewel to me for that price - but I said that I didn't want her and if I did I could have gotten her from Target already - I wanted to know if they were going to get new ones in but they said they didn't know.
And the Jewel Sparkes was Bitty Buttons and some of the others in Target were actually Lalaloopsy boxes.
In September 1981, Rincon was graced with a bunch of Hawaiians including Buttons, Lance Hookano, Ben Aipa, and Tony Valentine.
This is Buttons just after he came to live with my ex and I. He's still a baby in these pictures. His bright yellow face hadn't grown in yet and his crest was still small, but he was oh so cute! Buttons was super friendly. Ross said he was sitting at the front of the cage in the pet shop and just hopped onto his hand. That's how friendly he was. Unfortunately, Buttons flew out an open door and was never seen again. Never leave your birds out of the cage when someone comes to the door.
Here are some 1" buttons I made tonight. Most of them feature Jesus, but there are some of Mary and a few other saints. Kitsch at its best.
My mom's huge collection of vintage buttons -- over the years, she has acquired buttons that have belonged to both my grandmothers AND two great-aunts. The collection probably contains buttons from the 1940s until present, most of them (I think) dating from the 1950s till the 1970s. Provenance: Belgium (handmade and store-bought clothing).
Button in life really is everywhere! Wedding dress so small button, there will be another round of specialty.

I totally forgot to take pictures today. And I didn't take my camera to the Mayday Parade concert because I was afraid it would get hurt... which was a stupid thing to think. UGH. So here's my stupid picture.

My brother went back home (ontario, canada) for a wedding, but he also stopped in to see relatives and our grandmother gave him a whole bunch of buttons to pass on to me. Most of the 5-10 pounds or so of buttons are mother of pearl, and a select few are colored. Here's a selection of the "plain" ones. I've got at least a pound worth of each pile, some have two or three pounds, at a crude estimate. Some are older than my grandmother (and she's in her 80s). Not sure what I'm going to do with them yet. :)
look at these gorgeous buttons I found at the op shop!! how woderful to find these at oly $1 per sheet! love them
The large button was from my grandmother. The smaller buttons on the sleeves I purchased from etsy seller, sunny buttons.
