two new creations. The button is my first attempt at the cutwork method. I have embroidered a flower in the centre and surrounded it with french knots, sequin flowers and beads. It is edged with french knots and button hole lace.
The brooch is a combination of beads and embroidery.

This is knit from the top down, with no seams! I used Cascade Cherub Collection yarn. It's the medium size (6-12 months) The buttons were purchased at my LYS.
Very easy knit. This pattern can be purchased at www.cabinfever.ca
I have a bag of buttons in "assorted bold colours". For the one for ODC I sorted out the green and arranged them so there were only small gaps between. This shot shows the other colours in the bag, arranged randomly.
I've got a 1" button maker now and I'm going crazy making buttons. I'm using my own photographs, and also anything I can get my hands on.

I'm a bit obsessive about buttons. My parents live in Germany and there are are markets in Berlin with stalls that just sell buttons. You are given a bag and a paper cup and you scoop up as many as you want and pay by weight. As a result of this, I have jars of them dotted around the house and have been known to sit sorting them into satisfying piles (by colour, size, etc) at times of stress. I have a very understanding husband...
Today on a mission to search for more yarn for the crochet hexagons, I couldn't resist checking out the buttons in the shop.

I am not sure what to write about FButtons. With all honesty it wasnt the gig to remember. It had the potential to produce excellent photos. It all flipped when someone from the audience came, complaying about the flashes (there were about 5 photographer, all using external flashes). After that, i was unable to get a decent photo, even with my f1.8

Plenty of buttons but I would have had a few more if I had added even more options... Volvo have moved some functions from buttons into menu selections to make things less "busy" I guess. Older cars had buttons for the "reduced guard" alarm setting for example... The row of blank buttons at the bottom are for active xenon lights, the BLIS system, Active Cruise Control and others...

Buttons is handmade from high-fire clay without the use of any molds, making this an original work of art as all my pieces are. The mosaic is of steel balls, ceramic buttons while on the collar hangs an antique key.

I'm currently believing that all baby sweaters need to have red buttons.
These are for a February baby for a friend who delivered the day before Thanksgiving. Knit from dream in color Smooshy in "Wisterious" It took 73g, so there's going to be matching booties.
Wouldn't it be fun to take all these buttons out and place them in a bowl, one big bowl. All the colors and shapes to fish thru and play with. Just like when you were little in your mother's sewing room.
Do you like buttons? I like buttons! I think they are vastly overlooked as an avenue of expression. I like to think of them as "closure devices" which frees me up to so many other possibilities other than "round".
When the clothing item wears out, I want you to feel the need to cut the buttons off.
