Maggie often wondered where the giant blue tankers were going. father had told her "to the airbase" and left it at that, but she remembered one day, in Grady's outfitters, that the glass in Grady's shop window vibrated when one came rumbling along the main street.
As to the model, it's still not accurate to Dinky standards, but now it has decals, and laquer.

Former home of Benjamin F. Butler on the SW corner of Independence & New Jersey Avenues, SE. When this photo was taken c. 1896, it was being used as office space by the US Coast and Geodetic Survey and the Marine Hospital Service. Built in 1874, it was razed in 1929 to make way for the Longworth House Office Building.
Found in the 1896 edition of Rand, McNally & Co.'s Handy Guide to Washington and the District of Columbia.
