Yes, this is the largest lake in Italy, Lago di Garda, with crystal clear waters and with this beautiful tone that enchants tourists from all over the world.

It extends over an area of about 370 km² at an altitude of 65 meters above sea level. The lake has five islands, and several cities around it, as well as Lake Como.

Sirmione, the so-called Pearl of Garda, is a charming town that draws attention for its thermal waters and Roman ruins. But it also has freshwater beaches bathed by the famous lake and a historic center with monuments that so enchant us in Italy.

Special mention has to be made for the Castle Scaligero, built between the 13th and 14th centuries and very well preserved. The castle has a 37-meter high tower that provides one of the best views of the landscape.

Fort Wayne Indiana is home to the most Burmese outside of Burma. His name isn't Karen but the ethnic group he identifies with. He was on break from a back breaking job working in a foundry for 12 bucks an hour. Indiana is "welcoming" of immigrants if they work in meat processing and other low paying and dangerous jobs.

The Karen, also known as the Kayin, Kariang or Kawthoolese, are an ethnolinguistic group of Sino-Tibetan language–speaking peoples. The group as a whole is heterogeneous and disparate as many Karen ethnic groups do not associate or identify with each other culturally or linguistically.

# 20 For October: A month in 31 pictures

Lacking inspiration again today so a quick look in the garden at all the dying flowers and saw the hydrangeas. I think they are just as beautiful when they are dying as when they first bloom. I shot this in daylight WB but changed it to cloudy in editing to give it richer autumnal tones.

I'm almost afraid to say the Internet is behaving better today so I hope to catch up on some commenting...I spoke too soon...it's being very slow and temperamental! :(

With hunger and thirst quenched, but still intrigued by the scent of perfume, and with everything else around me, I decided to walk towards the building I had seen when I arrived. I had seen the "Motel" sign and that meant there would be rooms with beds to sleep in. I really had to rest even if it was just one night. I was tired and feeling the effects of the "Mojito" (I exaggerated the amount of the Run lol), I managed to find the "Motel".

It was a slightly dilapidated building, with an architectural mix of a building from the old west movies, and with some similarities to certain tropical places I've been to throughout my travels around the world. But I didn't care what the building looked like, I just wanted to find a room that had a shower and not even a mattress mattered... The effects of the "Mojito" were getting stronger.

I noticed that there were rooms on the ground floor and the 1st floor, but unfortunately for me, the rooms on the ground floor had their doors locked... yes, they had beds... but I didn't feel good about myself if I had to I had to break down a door, so I looked for a way to get to the top floor, I discovered some access stairs... maybe I would have better luck finding a room upstairs.

To be continued...

Thank you everyone for your visit, favorites and comments.

Like, I set up a half decent pic but, it turns out fairly shite. I can't win.

Le martin-pêcheur était très actif mais le temps gris a un peu gâché le plaisir.

The kingfisher was very active but the grey weather has spoiled the fun a little bit.

The river water is high enough to submerge the trunks of the trees on the shore, but not enough to cause any trouble.

For literally decades I have passed this beautiful church but usually I was always in a rush as I always had to be someplace to go or people to meet. This day was no better I was busy to heading downtown to cover the Halloween Parade but at least this day I grabbed a quick shot and decided to look up the history. Finished in 1846 in was designed James Renwick Jr. in French Gothic Revival Style. It's walls were built out of Sing Sing Marble from a nearby quarry next to historic Sing Sing Prison were the inmates were hired out to cut out the stone as a cost saving measure. The original spire was wood but was replaced with a stone spire in 1888. When the church opened it became very popular with many of the wealthiest families in the city as it outclassed many of the simpler wooden churches that existed in the city at the time. During the mid 20th century it was designated a New York City Landmark and now also enjoys National Landmark Status.

Hey flickr-friends, I don't usually publish the milestones, but with this photo I will reach 5 million views on flickr with my portfolio and I'd just like to use the moment to thank all of you! Especially if you've been around from the beginning 2.5 years ago! Thank you all! Have a wonderful day!

I love Nuthatches especially as they are a fairly recent addition to Scotland's birdlife. About 50 years ago they had a tiny foothold in the Borders but in the last thirty years or so they have expanded considerably spreading north and west quickly. The prime driver in this is the increase and popularity of bird feeding and Nuthatches can't resist a peanut. A pair were dominating the feeders today and cleaned out the peanuts. This is a female with light chestnut undertail coverts and a grey, rather than strong black, stripe through the eye.

Here's the first rufous hummingbird I've seen this year. I saw it for about 10 seconds, then after that heard it buzzing around but didn't get another view.

But +16C is still warm for Latvia in October

My thanks to 'Electric Soup' for the idea on the textures used.

I took this shot, just after the rain. The clouds were abundant, but I did like the way the light gathered at the center of the shot. It's almost as if, England and Albuquerque came together on a nice, autumn day :)

The texture used was a very light opacity. Thank you, Pareeerica!

I usually only take a few shots of Sandhill Cranes because they are so far away, and my puny lens doesn't really get them all that well. I went out to Frenchman's Bar Park to see if I could find my favorite raptor (I didnt'). I wasn't quite prepared when this crane flew right over me, but I got it!

But at her friend, not me who was working candidly :)

Day 301/366 of Project 365 (Tuesday, 2020 October 27 - 170th consecutive daily photo): Two adjacent dogwood leaves--one red with tinges of yellow, the other green with tinges of red, and their tips curling in opposite directions--photographed on a cold, dark, dreary, overcast, and drizzling morning.

But love keeps getting stronger <3

我雖然黑,卻是秀美。

I don't like oysters.... bleck.... uh oh...

In the beginning, the seed of the tree was just a small and inconspicuous object, hidden away in the soil. However, with time, it started to grow roots, pushing its way deeper into the earth, seeking nourishment and stability. Slowly but steadily, it began to sprout, breaking through the surface of the soil and reaching towards the sky.

As the tree grew taller and wider, it became a vital part of its ecosystem, providing shelter and food for various creatures. It survived through harsh weather conditions, enduring the scorching heat of the sun and the biting cold of winter.

Now, as we see it surrounded by dense fog, the tree appears like a wonder from another world, as if it has emerged from a mythical forest of dreams. The rays of the sun filter through the mist, casting the tree in a hazy glow, making it seem otherworldly and surreal.

The tree's silhouette appears ghostly, with some parts highlighted with a brighter and clearer intensity while others are shrouded in darkness and obscurity. This contrast between the light and shadows enhances the tree's magnificence and mystery.
