The Eastern Amberwing (Perithemis tenera) is a species of dragonfly in family Libellulidae. It is very small, reaching a total length of no more than 25 mm. The males have orange or amber wings. Both genders have a red pterostigma.
The common name refers to its eastern range, although this dragonfly does extend westward well into the central part of the United States.
The scientific name, tenera, means delicate and alludes to its small size.

Not to spoil the magic of how I do my photos, but this is my avi shot three different times. It took me all day, but mostly because Second life was acting up and my inventory disappeared for a couple hours...

I always liked this shot from last November, but never got around to posting it.
Another wishful thinking Owl shot.
I am not generally that successful at bird photography even when I have consciously gone out to see birds. This shot of the chaffinch was pure luck. Mary and I were on a walk recently I had taken a shot or two of some wild flowers . I spotted the bird and took a couple of shots without changing settings not really expecting anything reasonable. In fact I am quite pleased with this one I know it could be sharper but for a grab shot its not too bad . It is very heavily cropped
Hope you are all managing to cope in this strange New World we are living in . Of course I hope you and yours remain well and safe
THANKS FOR YOUR VISITING BUT CAN I ASK YOU NOT TO FAVE AN IMAGE WITHOUT ALSO MAKING A COMMENT. MANY THANKS KEITH. ANYONE MAKING MULTIPLE FAVES WITHOUT COMMENTS WILL SIMPLY BE BLOCKED

I don't know who wrote the quote, but it's very true and I felt like posting it.. And No.. I don't think I'm a horse..
Horses have always been an important part of my life. They are always there for you and don't ask questions why. You either get them or you don't.
Thank you for the texture ~diAnNa~

I went to Fernhill yesterday to see what was happening. Not a lot going on, but I was pleased to see this Lincoln's sparrow near the path. This is the only place I've seen them, and even at that, not often.
You need a haircut ;)

#High Key (sort of)
Please press "Z".
I've missed so many themes in 2020, so there was plenty to choose from – but the "Brush" theme from March actually wasn't on top of my list of what to do for Redux at all; in fact when I flipped through my "MM 2020" folder I even noticed that I'd skipped the theme already back in March: So how should I be able to come up with a nice photo just now?
Well, first of all there is this new brush that I've just bought and which is still in it's "virgin" state, because I thought I'd take a macro of it before I start using it in undoubtely futile attempts at taming my by now totally come apart haircut. So far, so boring. And I really thought that the first few test shots were kind of boring, until... well, until I looked at them on the monitor and noticed this perfectly sharp reflection of the bristles in the round tip of one single bristle (which is only 3 mm / 0,11 inches long). Something I hadn't even noticed while taking the photo.
Unfortunately, this first chance hit wasn't such a well composed image, because the in focus bristles are not where one would like to see them (rule of thirds), so I tried to reproduce the reflection. Have you ever used a magnifying glass to check your camera screen? This is what I did. And while I managed to get sharper, better composed images, I wasn't able to reproduce that clear and sharp reflection; I got reflections, but they never looked as nice and bright as the one(s) I got in my first attempt. So I decided to go with what I already had, clumsy composition or not. I thought about cropping the image, but that would have taken away the nice bokeh and golden sheen (light reflected by a piece of golden tinfoil) from the upper part of my image. What I also like are those "eyes" on the bristle tips, although they seem to say "Forget it, you'll never get your hair right!" ;)
HMM, Everyone! I wish you a Happy, Healthy New Year. Let's hope 2021 will be a better year than 2020. Stay safe and take care!
This is Jamesmoor Pond in the New Forest, a great location for a winter sunset.
A bit of a rush job as I left home a bit late. This was pretty much taken on arrival with the lens I had on my camera.
The lake was completely frozen over which shows how cold it was that day, bearing in mind this was sunset not sunrise.
It would have been better, I think, if I had put my wide angled lens on and taken this from a lower angle closer to the ice.
Always room for improvement!
Have a great weekend x

A life long vocation for the flaming owl.. scouring fields for food
After lots of hovering and diving they usually emerge from the long grass with something
The concept of boredom probably never occurs to them., it's a necessity for their survival
But you cant help but wonder if every now and again they think., 'oh no! Not again!!'
but of course successful in the end .-) ...

Don't have to leave this town to see the world
Cause it's something that I gotta do
I don't wanna look back in 30 years
And wonder who you're married to
Wanna say it now, wanna make it clear
For only you and God to hear
When you love someone, they say you set 'em free
But that ain't gonna work for me
I don't wanna live without you
I don't wanna even breathe
I don't wanna dream about you
Wanna wake up with you next to me
I don't wanna go down any other road now
I don't wanna love nobody but you
Looking in your eyes now, if I had to die now
I don't wanna love nobody but you
You
This is is a withered clematis from last year. I love them so much that I always keep them in a little coffin, thogether with the tiny bones from my Ex, because they look so pretty and photogenic with a little rain. Did I say coffin? You can trust me, I'm a l..r ;-)
Happy fluffy Friday for tomorrow, all :-)

Panna National Park, Madhya Pradesh, India
this large bird of prey has a very wide but spotty distribution.
It breeds in Southern Europe, various areas in Africa and across the Indian Subcontinent and eastwards up to Indonesia.
This is a powerful and aggressive raptor that takes most prey on the ground. Sometimes it can be seen soaring but often it is found perched in a tree from where it is looking for prey.
Its prey often consists of game birds and smaller mammals.
