Happy 😊 on Saturday!
Did you notice the pollen basket? .... The pollen basket is part of the tibia on the hind legs of certain species of bees. They use the structure in harvesting pollen and carrying it to the nest or hive.
I saw this chaffinch from a wildlife hide at a secret location in the Scottish Highlands last summer.
Native Bee (Lasioglossum (Chilalictus) sp.)
I had a few minutes late this afternoon to grab the camera and wander into the garden. Not much around but I did spot this bee.

CATEGORY: Abstract
I lied and said I was busy.
I was busy;
but not in a way most people understand.
I was busy taking deeper breaths.
I was busy silencing irrational thoughts.
I was busy calming a racing heart.
I was busy telling myself I am okay.
Sometimes, this is my busy -
and I will not apologize for it.”
― Brittin Oakman
An extreme close up of a common grass yellow butterfly nectaring on some beautiful tiny wildflowers. It was so busy, it didn't mind me getting that close.
I singled out this Busy Lizzie (Impatiens) flower at the Wanganui Winter Gardens. I decided to use a wide apperture as I preferred a more surreal result.
It was a actually a pretty busy day in the yard. In addition to the crossbill, Townsend warblers, and the usual suspects, there have been dozens of golden crowned sparrows around, about the same of siskins (suddenly very numerous), and the odd scrub jay and varied thrush. I haven't seen many kinglets lately, but this was one of perhaps a half dozen hopping around the fountain this afternoon. Golden-crowned kinglet, backyard Olympia.

This bee at Half Moon Bay State Beach CA was so busy doing what bees do that it barely noticed me taking its picture. Copyright: Sweezey Pictures/Ken Sweezey
Fairy Martin (Petrochelidon ariel)
We have had just on 25 mm ( 1 inch) of rain over the past few days so there are plenty of puddles around the Sneydes Rd paddocks. The Fairy Martins were busily collecting mud for nests today.
Nankeen Kestrel (Falco cenchroides)
The pair of Kestrels that have nested in the Vic Uni grounds are being kept busy hunting for food for their young. I have no idea how many chicks they have as I can't get access to the area where the nest is.
