I haven't posted much recently because I've been quite busy on a new project that I'll announce at some time soon.

This morning was a quiet morning on the beach making a pose for said project...and it seemed a perfect time to grab a snapshot ;)

(..and the more I look at this, I believe that left hand behind the head isn't going to work - I tried for quite some time to get the shoulder and collar bone to look natural in that position and...and it's not working :D )

So many bees in my flower garden this summer. :-)

After trimming my hedge, I spent a few minutes shooting bees on my Rosemary herb plant testing insect recognition of my Sony A7RV body.

The busy port of Ao Nang, in Krabi Province, Thailand. There is a constant coming and going of ferries, long-tail boats and speedboats - but the port retains its charm, not least because of the mountainous limestone karsts and lush forest that surround it.

Don't take the title literally. But this little Meerkat is digging ferverishly. Perhaps it's gold fever, or maybe it's digging an escape tunnel (it's actually a fresh burrow). But they are indeed busy little beavers. You can see how fast it is digging by the motion blur even at 1/125. This speed is in fact a great asset in the wild. Meerkats are famed for their ability to kill big snakes because of their long claws and agility.

Busy looking for insects.

I have already said to some friends here that I hate insects, I become hysteric seeing them. Before making pictures, I would never have thought to approach to them but I have a method with macro, I put the lense about 25 cms with my arm and I stay so far as I can and it is the surprise to discover them on my computer.

A bee busily harvests the nectar on an allium in the gardens of Anglesey Abbey. The house and gardens are owned by The National Trust.

This hummingbird was so busy feeding and trying to keep an eye on another hummingbird nearby, that it let me get fairly close to take a few pictures. I was really happy with the photo - I think it may be the best hummingbird photo I have captured!

As is usual in ocean waters, as her in the Burrard Inlet of BC.

it abounds in boats and ships alike, all navigating these waters which sometimes can be very treacherous due to heavy undertows.

Native Bee

I am seeing so many of these tiny Native Bees (around 6 mm long) in the garden at the moment. The flower is a weed of some sort, I have some work to do in the garden.

Happy Beautiful Bug Butt Thursday!

Macro of a bee at Hart Park. This was one of my first shots with my new macro set up. Used a Tamron AF 1.4X Tele-Converter, Canon EF25II extension tube, and Canon EF50mm f/2.5 Compact Macro.

wondering around the top of stanage edge looking for where my inspiration had gone too, decided to turn my camera on a friend

An Indian Paradise-Flycatcher (Terpsiphone paradisi) was feeding it's new born chicks with utmost care. It was ever busy along with its partner in feeding and caring the new-borns. In fact it was more efficient in collecting insects for the feeding. The long tails of this flycatcher and the eyes in natural ambience made it a charming composition. Pics was taken in a small forest near Purbasthali, West Bengal, India.

The archetype "busy bee" out foraging in this lovely flower.

A taste of summer. I'm so looking forward to some brighter longer days.

The theme for "Looking Close on Friday" for the 5th of July is "bugs & co", where a photo of an insect or other creeping or crawling small invertebrate (such as: spider, centipede, ant, wasp, moth, cockroach, beetle, butterfly, snail, caterpillar, cicada, damselfy, grasshopper, fly, bee, worm or ladybird) is required. Being winter here in Melbourne there aren’t that many insects around, however my mind was cast back to last spring on a delightfully sunny day with glorious blue skies, when I went for a stroll. As I walked down a street I came across a white sakura cherry blossom in bloom. Not only was it beautiful, but the air around it thrummed as dozens of bees flew happily from flower to flower, enjoying their sticky pollen elevenses! There are few things more pleasurable to enjoy than happy bees busily buzzing away! I hope you like my choice from my archives, and that it makes you smile!

A cherry blossom, also known as a Japanese cherry or sakura, is a flower of trees in the genus Prunus or the Prunus subgenus Cerasus. Wild species of the cherry tree are widely distributed, mainly in the Northern Hemisphere. They are common in East Asia, especially in Japan. They generally refer to ornamental cherry trees, not cherry trees grown for their fruit. The cherry blossom is considered the national flower of Japan.

Sorry to post another image of this lovely lady. I was pleased to capture her actually collecting pollen on the Jade flowers today. Something I have never managed before.

It is also a good chance to show her size, the petal behind her is around 8 mm in length.
