okay, so here's the deal: it's summer. in new orleans. and the air conditioning unit in my studio broke last month..... hooo!

now, i don't consider myself to be a wimp about the heat, but when you add a flaming torch, hot metal, some aerobic hammering and a simmering pickle pot to the mix, it gets intense! i can't even drink enough water to replace the sweat that an environment like that creates!

and so, i've been spending small bursts of time in the studio, silversmithing, and longer periods in the one air-conditioned room in our home, beading away. i hope you're not tired of the colorblocks!

they'll be drizzling into the shop throughout the day ~ cheers!

My friend Wendy was standing a foot or two to the left of me and as he hoisted these bundles to his shoulder, we "clicked" at the same time. She got a great shot: www.flickr.com/photos/wendybutler/2438467077/

Great to make a new Broom Stick !

It snowed today and traffic seemed to suck everywhere except on my route to work (route 50 from Arlington, VA to Fairfax, VA). I had to put a sweater on the bPod to keep it warm. (well technically it's a sock)

The vast funerary complex of king Djoser at Saqqara is the earliest in Egypt to make extensive use of stone masonry. Surrounded by a 10-m high fortification wall lined with bastions, it can only be entered through one gate at the southeast, which leads into a colonnaded hallway. A new type of column is introduced here, with a low cylindrical base from which emerges bundles of reeds forming a tapering shaft, and culminating in a rectangular plinth. As can be seen here, the columns are not formed fully in the round but rather engaged with piers.

Another use for christmas lights, these are very thin 5m led lights. Really had to fight to find the best settings, combination of trying to keep Lily still (1/400) and letting how much light to illuminate the shot.

I like the composition in this photo, letting the right amount of light shine on my daughter and keeping everything else in the dark.

hi.

fun in the sun.
