We were sitting enjoying the view over the lake when a lovely White-plumed Honeyeater appeared on the drinking fountain and proceeded to slate it's thirst. In the time that it took to go to the car to get a camera, this bully had disposed of the Honeyeater and taken over the fountain.

The big male elephant was being a bit of a bully and the mother elephant wasn't very happy. We watched for a while and then drove around the bend to see if we could get a closer view, but there was too many bushes in the way. We drove to the hide and could see quite a battle taking place in the distance.

This Eurasian Pygmy Owl (Glaucidium passerinum) was hunting. Couple of slow strikes, and then suddenly a few fast ones. Looks like this owl, the smallest in Europe, was after a small bird this time. However, after 30 minutes, still no success and various little birds started to bully the tired owl even more, than they did before. An old Silver Birch (Betula pendula) with few holes provided the necessary shelter. Happy Days.

Spain

There are so many fighting hummingbirds in my yard right now as they are fueling up for migration.

Most dislike them as they scare away all the little birds. However, sitting quietly in the sunshine i think they are quite gorgeous.
