This weekend's gala at Swanage Railway features no less than FIVE Bulleid locomotives to mark 2017 as the 50th Anniversary of the final operation of steam hauled services on the Southern Region of British Railways.

In the above photo, Battle of Britain Class 34081 92 Squadron is about to depart Swanage Station with another nearly full load of passengers. She is named after the famous Spitfire squadron based at various airfields but most revered for their operations from Biggin Hill during the Battle of Britain in 1940. Entering service from Brighton works in 1948, her mainline career ended when she was withdrawn from Eastleigh shed in 1964. Finally restored, she spent 10 years on the heritage circuit from 1998-2008. After major work she has just re-entered service for a third time earlier this year, now wearing the British Railways malachite-and-sunshine livery.

In the background, Battle of Britain Class 34053 Sir Keith Park awaits her turn.

Why "Bullied"?? Southern Railway's Chief Mechanical Engineer Oliver Bulleid designed SR's West Country and Battle of Britain classes, collectively known as 4-6-2 Light Pacifics or informally as Spam Cans.

Bully On Black

Yesterday we had a meeting with Janneke and Edgar....!

We are contacts for quite some time now, and after seen Edgar for the first time at the zoo,

it was time to get together with all the dogs...So there where five of them!

Comparing to the wildbunch, Shanny and Bully are huge!

Although Bully has the same speed limit as Alex! (grin) Very easy going!

It was so great to see him in real life! Bully is really one of a kind!

No series of pictures because It was raining cats and dogs, but we had a great time anyway ...and the dogs too! Thanks my friends!

Happy Furry Friday and have a great weekend!

No date or location for this shot of Bullied Q1 0-6-0 33008 which is still in steam.

New in July 1942 the loco was either allocated to Guildford or Feltham from 1948 onwards depending of whether you go by the BR database or the SLS. Withdrawl came in August 1963 and scrapping at Cohens in June 1964.

Took me a minute to work this out

I found this big ant attacking and killing the smaller ant.

I took this photo for my presentation. Tammana is acting as the victim and Jimin, Andrea and Mari was the bully. While we did this, it was so fun!!!

... Which reminds me of when I was in sixth grade at school...

... My family had moved and so I left behind all my friends and had to start going to a new school... I hated that!!

... I was picked-on a lot as the New Kid, especially by the School Bully -- Mike.

... Mike had been held back for two years, two grades, and was one big guy with a few scars on his wide face. He would corner me and knock me down whenever he had the chance...

... After a few months of this I decided I was getting tired of going to school scared.

… So one day, while I was crossing the gym floor, Big Mike walked in the opposite doors heading straight for me.

... I kept walking towards him and as soon as he was close, and about to push me down again, I slugged him in the stomach with my fist as fast and hard as I could; Big Mike buckled and fell face first onto the hardwood floor... I just kept walking…

... He never bothered me again, nor did anyone else in that wicked school... In fact Big Mike invited me home to his house later, and wanted to be my friend...

... And, it was there, at his house, that I understood the depths of Mike's anger and hurt; his house was an utter mess, his drunk dad on a stinky couch...his mom nowhere to be seen...

… Such is the way of emotional injury: Mike might have been bigger than all the others in sixth-grade, but Mike's little boy inside was angry and deeply hurt, and lashing out at the world – the scars on his face only mirrored the scars he lived with daily on the inside…

Both of them were late and I had literally 15 mins to shoot before the building closed. I had been waiting close to two hours for them to show up.

Great to finally see this in action: 35018 "British India Line" storms through Colton Junction on The Great Britain XI, hauling between York & Carlisle on the Scarborough to Edinburgh stretch.
