You're the lucky one

So I've been told

As free as the wind

Blowing down the road

Loved by many, hated by none

I'd say you're lucky 'cause I know what you've done

Not a care in the world

Not a worry in sight

Everything's gonna be alright

'Cause you're the lucky one...

I do not think that this gem is still around because this area has been overtaken by the gentifiers and they're slapping up new condos that nobody can afford...

This is our last find in North Dakota and according to Google maps was a neon & bulb sign back in 2009. Today the neon & bulbs are gone, but it is well maintained, however the hotel looked closed. On to Canada.

A nice holdover in the suburbs of Detroit.

Devon Theater, 107 West Mill Street, Attica, Ohio.

Well, I woke up this morning

with the sun shining through my door now

I saw the deputy standing

in the middle of my bedroom floor now

so I jumped out my window

with the deputy on my trail now

on my trail now

well, there's nowhere to run now

yeah, there's no place to hide

lookout...

With my brothers from Maui coming to the mainland this past week, things have been NUTS...saw them in Fairfax last Saturday night and then again at Lake Tahoe this past Saturday night, with a stop to see Dave Alvin and The Guilty Men Wednesday night in Sacramento...kicked this old boy's booty but someone has to do it...

They have sadly removed the neon from an otherwise neat tavern sign.

Jeffrey City, Wyoming

UPDATE -- November 2013. Drove through Jeffrey City a few days ago and discovered that this sign has been removed. It's an unfortunate loss of one of Wyoming's iconic roadside signs.

Well, I never kept a dollar past sunset

It always burned a hole in my pants

Never made a school mama happy

Never blew a second chance, oh no...

I need a love to keep me happy

I need a love to keep me happy

Baby, baby, keep me happy

Baby, baby, keep me happy...

Nice liquor store signage on the near south side of Kalamazoo.

Happy Easter--as good a time as any to post this cool vintage neon, bulb, & clock sign for the Philadelphia Church in Chicago's Andersonville neighborhood--currently celebrating their 90th Anniversary! Founded by Swedish immigrants as a Pentecostal church. It moved to its current location at 5437 N Clark Street (former Capital State Bank Building) in 1939.. From what I can gather, it now functions as a non-denominational church.

The last amusement park (not counting water parks) still open in West Virginia. It originated as a trolley park picnic spot in 1903. A carousel was installed later in the year. A roller coaster and other rides were added in following years. The current owners' family (according to the park’s website) took over in 1950.

It’s also reportedly one of only 13 trolley parks still open. Trolley parks were 19th and early 20th century recreation areas and, in later years, amusement parks built out on the far edge of town, almost always owned by the local streetcar company, created to give riders an incentive to use the trolley. A notable example is Coney Island.

While in Logansport I journeyed to the north end of town to get a re-shoot of the nice drive-in neon sign. I heard it had been repainted and I see that the food pictures above and below the name are gone.

The now defunct furniture company left behind this great sign and even in bright daylight I could see a lot of the bulbs were lit. The building is undergoing restoration into apartment/condos and entertainment.
