Cape Cod Light, Truro
It is the oldest and tallest lighthouse on Cape Cod.
George Washington commissioned in 1797 at this location the construction of a lighthouse to warn the ships of the
dangerous waters along the coast between Cape Ann and Nantucket.
The Highland Light was the first lighthouse on Cap Cod. 1833 the original wooden built structure was replaced by a building made of bricks. 1857 the lighthouse was pulled down because it was dilapidated and was replaced by the tower today still in operation.
The original site was located 140 meters (450 feet) to the east. Due to progressive erosion the shoreline was at risk that the tower collapsed into the sea. Therefore, in July 1996 the entire building complex was moved inland
to the grounds of the Highland Golf Course within 18 days.

The Church of the Holy Archangel Michael over the village of Oreanda was built in 2006 at the foot of Mount Ai-Nikola. As archaeological excavations indicate, an ancient Christian monastery used to be located on this site. The temple was built by the famous Yalta architect Vyacheslav Bondarenko and is surrounded by mountains. When broadcasting the singing of the male church choir, voices repeatedly reflected from the rocks create an unusual acoustic effect. Such a monumental sound can only be achieved in special concert halls.
