N. S. Vsevolozhsky (1772-1857), a historian and bibliophile, founded a printing house in 1809, which he placed in a side wing of this building. It was one of the few wooden buildings that survived the fire of 1812, then there was the residence of General J.D. Compan and official publications of the Napoleonic army were printed. In 1875, the territory around the estate, including itself, became owned by a French citizen from Lyon, a merchant of the Moscow guild, Claudius Osipovich (Claude-Marie) Giraud, who, together with another merchant Alexei Mikhailovich Istomin, began active construction of a silk factory, which later became the largest silk-weaving factory in the Russian Empire.
