Streamlined Moderne building (Built in 1948) with fairly new buildings in the background - December 28, 2018.

1299 Haight Street stands as a quintessential example of San Francisco’s rich architectural history, particularly in the vibrant Haight-Ashbury neighborhood. This three-story building is a testament to the city’s early 20th-century architectural style, blending elements of Edwardian and Victorian design. The exterior features a mix of wood siding and stone, creating a visually striking facade that captures the eye of anyone passing by.

One of the most distinctive aspects of this building is its detailed craftsmanship. The intricate woodwork, seen in the cornices and window frames, reflects the attention to detail characteristic of the era. The building’s upper levels boast classic bay windows, which not only enhance the aesthetic appeal but also provide ample natural light to the interiors. The central, arched window on the top floor adds a unique architectural flourish, contributing to the building’s historic charm.

The ground level of 1299 Haight is clad in a textured stone finish, providing a contrasting yet complementary base to the otherwise wooden structure. This combination of materials not only reinforces the building’s durability but also accentuates its architectural elegance. The entrance, framed by decorative pillars and a carved stone lintel, invites residents and visitors into a space that is as rich in history as it is in character.

Positioned on the corner of Haight and Central Avenue, this building is perfectly situated in the heart of one of San Francisco’s most iconic neighborhoods. The Haight-Ashbury district is famous for its countercultural heritage, and living here means being surrounded by a blend of historic architecture, vibrant street art, and an eclectic mix of shops and cafes.

For those seeking a home that encapsulates the essence of San Francisco’s past while being in the midst of a lively, ever-evolving community, 1299 Haight Street offers an unparalleled living experience.

303 Sacramento Street stands as a remarkable blend of historic charm and urban sophistication in San Francisco's vibrant Financial District. This early 20th-century building, with its intricate brickwork and decorative accents, offers a striking contrast to the sleek, modern skyscrapers that surround it. The building’s facade is a testament to the craftsmanship of a bygone era, with detailed cornices and symmetrical windows that reflect the architectural trends of the early 1900s.

Located at the corner of Sacramento and Front Streets, 303 Sacramento is more than just a commercial building; it is a piece of San Francisco's architectural heritage. The building's design features a harmonious balance between functionality and aesthetic appeal, with large windows that flood the interior spaces with natural light while providing views of the bustling streets below. The fire escape, a quintessential element of historic urban architecture, adds to the building's character and serves as a reminder of the city's resilience.

This building has witnessed the transformation of the Financial District over the decades, standing as a silent observer to the evolution of one of the world's most dynamic urban centers. Its ground floor hosts a variety of retail spaces, including eateries and specialty shops that cater to the diverse crowd of professionals, tourists, and locals who frequent the area. Above, the upper floors continue to serve as office spaces, maintaining the building’s original purpose as a hub for business and commerce.

For those interested in San Francisco’s architectural history, 303 Sacramento offers a glimpse into the city's past while standing firmly in the present. It’s a perfect example of how historic buildings can coexist with modern developments, creating a unique urban landscape that honors its roots while embracing the future.

149/366: Architecture - The Floater

This beautiful piece of architecture was behind my hotel in Oklahoma City. I have called it "The Floater" because the bottom floor appears to be floating due to the magnificent reflections of the sky and clouds. I moved around the building and found the perfect spot to add the sun-flare into the photograph. The sun-flare adds an additional point of interested and brings the viewers eye up into the photograph.

This was taken using my Lee Filter Circular Polarizer.

The building is owned by 1999 Enterprise Limited Partnership and managed by GBR Properties and goes by the official name of Enterprise Plaza

Aus der Reihe - 'Alles Fassade'

Completed in the mid-2010s as part of the Niittykumpu metro station area’s urban renewal, this residential tower is one of the tallest buildings in Espoo, standing at approximately 90 meters with 24 stories. It symbolizes the shift in Espoo’s suburban identity — from low-rise, car-centered neighborhoods to vertical living and public transit integration.

Located just meters from Niittykumpu Metro Station, the building is known not only for its height, but also for its contemporary Nordic design — characterized by clean lines, dark cladding, and large glass balconies. At night, the warm glow from individual apartments creates a grid of lives quietly illuminated in the sky.

This photo, taken with the Canon EOS-1D X Mark II, captures that quiet moment when the city turns blue, and the tower watches over the neighborhood like a glowing monolith of urban life.

The beautiful interior of Saints Mary And Patrick's Church in Avoca. This church was built in 1862 with support from the local miners of the nearby but long closed Avoca Mines.

This lovely little church has fascinating architecture both inside and out, the stained glass window behind the altar is an amazing example of craftsmanship. Well worth a look if you are in the area.
