"Amateurs talk strategy, professionals talk logistics".

Whilst a lot of flashing images have been on peoples' telescreens of late, it is clear a lot of people have become armchair generals and sitting room diplomats.

However, physical reality determines what happens in the real world. Some countries ought to be doing certain things for sure but that is a world away from what is happening.

Recent events have shown some countries are stronger or weaker than hitherto imagined. Some alliances or power blocks will no doubt get a rude awakening.

If events are as portrayed, then realignments are inevitable and

access to raw materials will become key. To have such resources, global trade needs to continue as expected, or you need to have your own primary and secondary industries and have not mothballed them or sold them off to a country that no longer likes you.

Also, it is hard to be at war with a country upon whom you are resource-dependent for the next five years (conservative estimate).

PS. Having a look at Orwell's map for 1984 power blocks map is somewhat illuminating.

Canada is looking better and better to us as the weeks unfold. This is the Caribou Mountains near Jasper Park B.C.

A story picture. My dog has not yet seen this cat under the tree. That state of affairs is not reciprocal.

A sculpture at Duston, Northampton, to remember the former British Timken factory which was nearby. The sculpture depicts a huge steel bearing ring and a tree. Inserted into the sculpture are many panels depicting photographs of people working at Timken, special occasions and Duston communities at the annual British Timken show.

Variation of a painting from the Tate Britain gallery, London, UK.

The original artwork is the work of an unknown British avant-garde and contemporary artist. The texture I used comes from Lenabem-Anna, for which I thank her very much.

This is an old rusty hut on wheels on display in the grounds of British iron works near Oswestry,it used to be near the entrance about 10 years ago when i last visited there.

British Army Apache helicopter fires Hellfire missiles for the first time at sea, in exercise ranges off Gibraltar.

A significant milestone in proving the capability of Apache to operate and strike from the sea, 30mm cannon and Hellfire missiles were successfully fired against seaborne targets in a long-planned exercise near Gibraltar.

In total, 550 rounds of 30mm and 9 radar-guided Hellfire missiles were fired, achieving a 100% strike rate. This was the first time that Hellfire has been launched in the maritime environment.

Matt and Sophie kindly took Tim and me to the British Wildlife Centre on Saturday, which is about an hour and half's drive. (JJ was also having a day out with a friend, hence Shannon coming to look after Harbie)

I have some other photos to upload before I get to the BWC ones but thought I'd give you this taster. Clearly this is a fox and doesn't need too much explanation! Sophie kindly lent me her 300mm lens (while she used her 600mm!) and it was nice to dust off my DSLR and use it again. My main issue is most of the animals were either behind fencing, as you can see here, or behind glass. If anyone knows if there's a simple way to get rid of it on Photoshop, please let me know before I upload the rest of the best of my photos!!
