The mighty Rockies around Edelweiss, Golden BC area. These are shots i never got around to posting from our trip to Golden a couple of years ago - right now it's cold and wet and cloudy - so it's not a good time for photoshopping.
This weekend at the TT circuit Assen the British Superbikes championships were held. At Friday great weather and lots of bikes to practice my panning shots on.

A family run destination and the UK's leading metal sculpture park.
Home to The Nations largest collection of decorative metalwork.
Spread over 70 acres,
with a shop and cafe.
Dog friendly too.
One of Tiverton’s oldest pubs: The White Horse is recorded in local histories as existing by at least 1643 on Gold Street, making it one of the earliest surviving pubs in the town alongside places like the Angel Hotel and Half Moon.
The building has evolved over the centuries. There is local tradition that the inn, in its current form, was built around 1835, though the exact date isn’t firmly documented.

Close-up of the Dama Gazelle sculpture at The British Ironwork Centre, Oswestry, Shropshire
The critically endangered Dama Gazelle faces multiple threats including overhunting, habitat loss due to farming and agriculture practices, and competition for resources and space with domestic livestock.
You can see these sculptures on The Extinction Trail which features metal sculptures of endangered species like gorilla's and rhino's.
Visitor's can walk the Trail and learn all about the animals and use QR Codes to find out how to help with conservation efforts.
This was on display a puffer fish at the British iron works shop( the lads used to call our manager that he always used to puff up when he was in a temper)!
I found him...and he seemed quite relaxed, well at least he hadn't turned green...yet.
Remarkable how the sculptors / artists imagined this impressive creature from auto and machine parts, mostly scrap.
Hew Locke was born in Edinburgh in 1959. He spent the years between 1966 to 1980 in Guyana.
Tate Britain, London
The Procession invites visitors to ‘reflect on the cycles of history, and the ebb and flow of cultures, people and finance and power.’ Tate Britain’s founder was art lover and sugar refining magnate Henry Tate. In the installation Locke says he ‘makes links with the historical after-effects of the sugar business, almost drawing out of the walls of the building,’ also revisiting his artistic journey so far, including for example work with statues, share certificates, cardboard, rising sea levels, Carnival and the military.
Throughout, visitors will see figures who travel through space and time. Here, they carry historical and cultural baggage, from evidence of global financial and violent colonial control embellished on their clothes and banners, alongside powerful images of some of the disappearing colonial architecture of Locke’s childhood in Guyana.
The installation takes inspiration from real events and histories but overall, the figures invite us to walk alongside them, into an enlarged vision of an imagined future.
"What I try to do in my work is mix ideas of attraction and ideas of discomfort – colourful and attractive, but strangely, scarily surreal at the same time".

The Queen Elizabeth II Great Court is a covered square at the centre of the British Museum. It was designed by the engineers Buro Happold and the architects Foster and Partners. The Great Court opened in December 2000 and is the largest covered square in Europe. The roof is a glass and steel construction, built by an Austrian steelwork company with 1,656 uniquely shaped panes of glass. At the centre of the Great Court is the Reading Room vacated by the British Library, its functions now moved to St Pancras. The Reading Room is open to any member of the public who wishes to read there.
The museum is dedicated to human history and culture. Its permanent collection, numbering some 8 million works, is among the largest and most comprehensive in existence and originates from all continents, illustrating and documenting the story of human culture from its beginnings to the present.

British Steel
"Amateurs talk strategy, professionals talk logistics".
Whilst a lot of flashing images have been on peoples' telescreens of late, it is clear a lot of people have become armchair generals and sitting room diplomats.
However, physical reality determines what happens in the real world. Some countries ought to be doing certain things for sure but that is a world away from what is happening.
Recent events have shown some countries are stronger or weaker than hitherto imagined. Some alliances or power blocks will no doubt get a rude awakening.
If events are as portrayed, then realignments are inevitable and
access to raw materials will become key. To have such resources, global trade needs to continue as expected, or you need to have your own primary and secondary industries and have not mothballed them or sold them off to a country that no longer likes you.
Also, it is hard to be at war with a country upon whom you are resource-dependent for the next five years (conservative estimate).
PS. Having a look at Orwell's map for 1984 power blocks map is somewhat illuminating.

British Camp (Herefordshire Beacon) in the early golden light of a winter's morning.
This is the view north, looking along the ridge of the Malvern Hills towards Worcestershire Beacon in the distance. As you can see the cloud cover was quite extensive, but we were lucky enough to be in the right place when the sun peeped through a break in the clouds to light up the hills.
British Camp is one of the best preserved and most spectacular Iron Age Hill forts, dating back to about 400BC, and it rises to more than a 1,000 feet above the Severn Valley to the east.
