Found this in an old box of photography gear at a salvage yard. An unfired Sylvania flash bulb, rendered obsolete by newer electronic and LED flash devices. These once lit up the room with burning magnesium that did its best to approximate daylight.

The bulb is 2.5 inches top to bottom and 1.5 inches side to side.

I can see clearly now the rain is gone

I can see all obstacles in my way

Gone are the dark clouds that had me blind

It's gonna be a bright (bright)

Bright (bright) sunshiny day

It's gonna be a bright (bright)

Bright (bright) sunshiny day

Oh, yes I can make it now the pain is gone

All of the bad feelings have disappeared

Here is that rainbow I've been praying for

It's gonna be a bright (bright)

Bright (bright) sunshiny day.

Opposite the "dark corner" (picture in the first comment below), the "bright" corner of my yard has full sun. There is a continuous show of perennial flowers from early Spring to late summer. Bright yellow lilies start off, followed by yellow sedum. As they fade, the purple phlox emerge and stay all summer, and the yellow Black Eyed Susan join shortly after. A row of tall Helianthus in back will emerge in late summer.

The best part is that they are all perennials (no planting needed) : )

These crocus blooms all growing so closely together in a large mass just brightened the whole area and made a walk in the park area more enjoyable.

Happy April Fools Day, but Spring is everywhere, so no turning back, thankfully!

Usually in The Netherlands our Bright Flower goes by the Latin name 'Primula'. Once in a while you'll hear it referred to as 'Sleutelbloem', Key Flower. That name comes from the way Primula veris (Cowslip) hangs in clusters much in the way of keys on a keyring. Primulas in 'the wild' are generally colored in various shades of yellow and white. But horticulturalists have had a hay day with Primula vulgaris in developing cultivars in many bright colours. So also these in the Hortus's garden shop. And, of course, they're grown for all seasons, early and late. On any glum day, a joy to see...

Back in February I had one wonderful encounter with a local Short-eared Owl. It was late in the day when I hiked into the hills and discovered him hunting over the grasslands. I love the way the sun illuminates his face and the edges of his uplifted wings. It was a sweet moment.

Walking in a local neighbourhood, I spied a small spindle bush that was loaded with these tiny fruits that were opening to reveal their bright seeds. This was the first time I've ever seen this plant and I sure found it at the right time of the year. Edited with an impressionism filter (Van Gogh) for Sliders Sunday. HSS!

Thank you for your visits and comments, they're all greatly appreciated. Have a great day!

as the bright sun smiled on them

making them more spectacular.
