The Bennett Creek area of Suffolk, VA (about 10mins from my house) was originally populated by Nansemond Indians. A series of land grants beginning June 26, 1635, handed the land around Bennett Creek to a group of Puritans led by Richard and Robert Bennett. Richard Bennett later became the first Puritan governor of Virginia after the English Civil War. His home was located on Bennett Creek.
Here is the view of the marsh area near the fishing pier of Bennett Creek Park in Suffolk, VA. This area is surrounded by waterways, hence the need for bridges and tunnels galore! Fishing is done for both sport, recreation, and to supply the amazing seafood restaurants in the area!
