I have no idea what brand of gasoline this old (1937) service station was affiliated with. It appears that it was constructed with only the first service bay. The two the right look to have been added later.

Raynor and Helfrich Wedding Held at Bridgeview Sat. July 24, 2016.

The wedding of Pais Raynor and Andy Helfrich was held at the Raynor’s Bridgeview home in Bristol, Indiana on the bluff above the St. Joe River on Saturday afternoon, July 23, 2016. Before the wedding, Pais and her Bridal Party and Andy’s Groomsmen prepared for the occasion in separate places: Pais and her attendants in the main house, and Andy and his Groomsmen in the Studio outside. In the ceremony, it was recalled that Pais and Andy first met at a preview for a Harry Potter Premiere in 2011 in South Bend, Indiana. The first thing that Andy said to Pais was: “Hi, do you always dress like that?” Pais was wearing a complete Harry Potter costume with wand and hat. That lit the spark that led to their relationship. When Andy’s job transferred him to Florida, Pais joined him where she became the Production Coordinator at St Petersburg City Theatre. They decided to hold their wedding up north among friends and family there. As a special touch on the day where the heat index was to reach 100+, the guests were offered a lovely palm wedding fan, complete with an attached program of the Wedding Party. During the ceremony, each read personal vows to each other. Pais shed her old tennis shoes as a symbol of her new life. Andy held a sword. A reception was held under the trees following the ceremony. Just the Facts: Wedding Party: Maid of Honor: Kate Smiley. Best Man: Blake Brosmer. Bridal Party: Jordan Lambka, Henry Keith, Hope Monroe.

(View of the Patullo Bridge and New Westminster Rail Bridge from Brownsville Bar Park in Surrey)

The PATTULLO BRIDGE is a through arch bridge that crosses the Fraser River and links the city of New Westminster, to the city of Surrey in British Columbia. The bridge was named in honour of Thomas Dufferin Pattullo, the 22nd Premier of British Columbia.

A key link between Surrey and the rest of Greater Vancouver, the Pattullo bridge handles an average of 75,700 cars and 3840 trucks daily, or roughly 20 percent of vehicle traffic across the Fraser River as of 2013

The NEW WESTMINSTER BRIDGE (also known as the New Westminster Rail Bridge (NSRW or the Fraser River Swing Bridge) crosses the Fraser River and connects New Westminster with Surrey, British Columbia, in Canada.

The New Westminster Bridge was constructed in 1904 and was originally built with two decks.

The lower deck was used for rail traffic, and the upper deck was used for automobile traffic. With the opening of the Pattullo Bridge in 1937, the upper deck was removed and the bridge was converted exclusively for rail use.

The toll for the upper bridge was 25 cents and created quite an uproar for farmers who found out quickly that by taking their livestock across on foot would cost them a quarter a head but if they put them in a truck it cost a quarter for the whole load.

The bridge was the preferred method of transport across the Fraser until the Pattullo Bridge opened in 1937. Prior to that to cross that part of the river meant using the K De K ferry which would dock at the present day Brownsville location which is part of the Bridgeview neighbourhood of Surrey.

The bridge is owned by the Government of Canada, operated and maintained by the Canadian National Railway, with the Southern Railway of British Columbia (SRYBC), Canadian Pacific Railway, and BNSF Railway having track usage rights.

A record-breakingly warm, late spring day has the doors open and a view of two of the crew.

Wow. I've been going to the Bridgeview, IL location since it opened. The quality of the food has decreased dramatically recently, as have the attentiveness of the staff. On Monday evening I placed a simple drive-thru order. 6 piece shrimp dinner, mushroom & swiss burger basket (everything on the burger), fries, diet soda, two concrete mixers. I arrive home. No cocktail sauce. No cutlery or napkins. The bag is DRIPPING grease. My burger was tossed in sideways and I'm staring at a pile of cheese all over the bottom of the box. It's a good thing that they FORGOT to put anything on the burger - that would have been a worse mess. The fries were greasy, inedible and tasted like they were cooked in week old automotive oil. I called the location, spoke to the manager. "Can you come by Weds after 4pm and talk to me?" Promised replacement food and a free cup of custard. I went tonight. I stood, waiting for her for almost 20 minutes. Employees reminded her multiple times I was there. Not a word. I was totally ignored. The employees looked embarrassed. Ironic, don't you think? I'm there to talk to her about terrible service, and I receive even worse service from her. Diane, I don't know what your problem is, but this is the ideal way to chase away loyal customers.

This photo of the sailboats in the marina was taken just as the sun was setting. The quality of the light and the reflections on the still water were irresistible. The location is the Bridgeview Marina in Sarnia, Ontario.

This Week Bristol Indiana - Sept. 16, 2017. Bridgeview, the Raynor home two doors east of the Bristol Post Office is famous for their porch times. On Saturday, Sept. 16, 2017, the porch overflowed with family and friends.

Grandmother Maggie’s oldest friend Iva Sawtelle from Ohio was visiting, as were next-door neighbors, the Wiliams. Dan and Zan (of Stevens Puppets) were joined by their children and significant others: Pais and Andy, Mak and Katelyn, and their youngest children Caven and Leilia. Gnoli is off at college working on her MFA in theatre design and production at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts. Also on Saturday, Carl Mauck, author of the just published “Bonneyville Mills Then and Now,” by Retrospect Press, greeted family and friends at a Bristol book signing. Carl’s cousins, Ruth Ann Rockwell and Karan Holt enjoyed teasing him about their childhood days, and Carl shared stories of how he and his other cousin Harlan Blood liked to hide about the Mill from what they called “the pesky girl cousins. The Bristol Library has the book for sale.

My car is so old that I can no longer take the expressway to Bridgeview and Toyota Park to see the Fire. But the good news is that while it's slightly slower, Archer Avenue runs parellel to I-55 on the way to the southwest suburbs so I just take Archer Avenue to Harlem and then hang a let to Toyota Park.

This was actually the first time that I took this way this year as it's my first trip in 2007 to Toyota Park. Although I did have to do a similar route to pick up my laptop which was in repair at 81st and Cicero (even further away than Toyota Park it felt).

This is the #62 Archer Avenue bus that I was behind for a brief time on the way to the match. The reason it's so odd is because on the back of the bus is an ad for Cuauhtémoc Blanco's Fire debut. The very game that I was following this bus to for part of the way on Archer Avenue.

It's no mistake that the Archer bus was chosen for the add as it goes through Chicago's primarily Mexican origin southwest side.

I like this photo because it contains what to me is just a quintiscentially southwest side looking building.

The tear down fence surrounds the former Dukes Drive at 81st Place and Harlem Avenue which closed in August 2019. The neon was removed from the sign, which was made by Grate Sign CO.

The building will be demolished to make way for another Panera Bread which is currently located at 79th & Harlem Ave.

Southbound traffic can not turn left into PB due to the high concrete center divider. Due to customers not being able to get in off Harlem PB decided to move up the street where there is a dedicated center turning lane.

Duke's Drive In is planning on re-opening in a much smaller Brown's Fried Chicken building which is vacant building on an out lot at 87th & Harlem Avenue. That building houses several other tenants, as well.

Dukes was demolished about a week after I took this photo.

This Week in Bristol Indiana - 7-28-18. Gail Marner, former Bristol resident on the right, & Harriet Edwards, left, who works for Tom Russell, talked about old times and memories of Bristol. Gail’s aunt, Sandy Shultz owned the now Evans Cafe about 40 years ago, called it the Cow Bell, and decorated it with cows all over inside. Gail also lived in the house across from Camille’s in the 70s. Back in the 30s, the home was called Pinetree Cottage and was owned by the Sanger family. It has been recently remodeled. The ladies joined others for breakfast at Evans Sidewalk Cafe in downtown Bristol.

The Raynors (the Puppet Masters of Bristol) were out for their morning stroll. They spend as much time as possible living in Bridgeview in Bristol, when they are not on the road. The flower pots and hanging baskets that were done by Park Board member Penny Bucks, and Friends of the Parks like Janet Swank and Lori Dreamer & her daughter, planted on a rainy day, and now add color to the Town streets.
