Homeland Security (?) arriving at the scene of the Interstate Interstate 35W bridge collapse on the Mississippi River. The Secret Service and FBI were also present.
I saw about 6 helicopters hovering above the scene at one point - it reminded me of the accident in Phoenix last week.
Interstate 35W bridge. I heard about it and flew like the wind on my bicycle, as I thought I could offer assistance.
This entire stretch of St. Anthony Main from the Stone Arch Bridge (pedestrian and bike traffic only) to 3rd Ave SE was full of news trucks. Local and some national. The Stone Arch bridge, 10th Ave, and U of M pedestrian bridges are all closed to traffic of all kinds.
Twisted steel from the collapsed I35W bridge will be examined to try and determine what caused it to collapse. ntsb.gov/dockets/Highway/HWY07MH024/default.htm
