At least 2 rules broken - Firstly with Archie, the subject in the middle of the frame. Secondly - don't walk too far ahead in the hope that it will spur him on to join you, it never works and you always have to backtrack!

Rule broken - don't change the zoom while the shutter is open

OK, this is a really terrible photo, but I had to post it because I love how crazy it made Zephyr's hair!

I have not got the knack yet of keeping the center in focus when zooming the lens, wish I had been able to do so.

Breaking "the rules" is fun!

One of my regular tasks is clearing out the fridge-freezer to avoid food wasteage, etc. Lurking in the freezer compartment was this teensy bit of chocolate ice-cream; I knew I should keep it and give it to my daughter for desert tonight, but it really was taking up space and the alternative was to throw it away … so many mummy-rules broken :-)!

I had a nasty headache today, and plopped down on the couch to nurse it. First Jekyll jumped up, climbing over me to get to his perch on the back of the couch. Then Charlie, who promptly began kneading my stomach with his needle-like claws and licking my face. Then Buddy (the one in front) jumped up, kneading my legs and demanding attention before finally settling down next to me. The patch of blue between Charlie and Buddy is me. The only thing with a camera that I could reach without disturbing the scene was my iPad, so I ended up with this low-resulotion selfie. I’m sure it breaks lots of rules, especially since I cut off Charlie and Buddy’s faces. (My arm wasn’t long enough.) This is unedited and uncropped. I didn’t get much of a nap, but there is something to be said for purr therapy. :-)

The pool is basically a bar. There were about 300 people disobeying this sign I found under a bush. This gentleman was kind enough to model it.

In the book Photography and the Art of Seeing, Freeman Patterson lays out the Ten Sacrosanct Rules of Photography(tm), and then tells you to go out and break them.

This one is Number Two: Fill in the frame with the subject. Depends on your point of view, I guess - the grass could be considered The Subject, but in this case I was shooting the pop can.

1 - Portrait in full profile

2 - Camera set to high ISO so high image 'noise'

3 - Edge clutter not cropped out

4 - Lighting distorted by reflected colour

I was taking pictures of something else, and just swung my camera around and shot this. No attention to composition. Notice the accidental selfie in his eye. :-)
