Day 3 of the black and white photo food challenge. One day I will make efforts to shoot with a hand model so that I don't have to struggle and contort myself to make a shot. I am set up in my basement next to the only isolated North facing window in the house. Sourdough bread is a labor of love. I had a starter in my fridge but when I went on vacation it went bad so I decided to order one from King Arthur Flour. It is a starter that has been around since the 1700's. This is my first loaf of bread attempted with the new starter, I am excited!
ANSH 117 #14 "Bread", this is a sliced loaf of an apple cinnamon raisin bread that I bought to have with breakfast. I sampled it this afternoon, of course, and it was quite good. Our local grocery store preslices all of their breads except baguettes, although I wish they would offer at least _some_ unsliced. These are a bit thin for my taste (and toaster)
Went to the local outdoor market with my friends to get some items to photograph. The bread looked interesting, so here is a simple still life using window light. The problem with photographing fresh bread is it smells delicious and you just want to scrap the project and start eating. Fort Worth, Texas, USA, April 2024

The only reason I can see to call it 'bread' is the fact that the recipe writers say to "bake in a bread pan".
Sometimes you see loaves of any sort referred to as 'quick breads'...I never call them that....just call them a loaf. Like Banana Loaf...but, you also see it called Banana Bread.... same recipes.
Also... they call the topping Dutch Crumb Topping... but, it is just Streusel to me.
Anyway....I saw it, wanted to try it and so I did. it is very tasty... but no more so than my usual Apple Cake recipe ..which I bake in an 8 x 8 square pan.
However, if you'd like to give it a try here is a link to the site. I love the look of their site..the photos are excellent... and, all the loaves are called Quick Breads...hahha... oh, well.
Some of their recipes I have tried have not worked perfectly...but, trust the measurements on this one. It worked beautifully.
One tip though..... it says dice the apples...but, I think you need to dice them smaller than I did. It left rather large openings around some of the chunks of diced apples and, therefore makes it a bit difficult to slice. It falls apart at the edges if you some upon an airy spot.
Also.. don't try slicing it until it cools completely...the streusel topping is pretty crunchy when it first come out of the oven and causes edges to crumble as well. Just sayin' ....
Definitely worthwhile to make ... and...as you can see...I didn't bother with the icing on top of the Dutch Crunch (Streusel) Topping.... it was plenty sweet enough for me.
Enjoy!
“Bread!” cried Mr. Deiklap. “I want bread!” He turned and pointed. Once.. Twice… We looked at each other and knew this was an opportunity to see what stands between him and his finger pointing. It was a sign for all of us.
Because I absolutely love bread.
Probably not the first and certainly not the last pic of bread I post

Thanks so much for all the support! 😁
I love this size as I can not use up a whole loaf unless I'm throwing a dinner.
New owners late 2013-La Parisienne-ok but not quite as good for my taste and more expensive
“Bread – like real love – took time, cultivation, strong loving hands and patience. It lived, rising and growing to fruition only under the most perfect circumstances.”

What's not to love. I've had this twice today. For breakfast (toasted) and a snack (not toasted) this afternoon. Thank the Lord and all other Deities that I don't have Coeliac Disease!
Man does not live by bread alone, but homebaked is good and there are no synthetic flavor additives.

My favorite perfume bottle (not necessarily fragrance) makes yet another appearance. This isn't the most glamorous set-up; I just placed it on top of my kitchen counter.
I learned my cat doesn't like low-fat brie...but then, who does? At least it kept him from investigating my set.
