There were actually a lot of girls at this show -- I was next to a super-hot, tall elven chick, Carolyn, a redhead behind me, and a few other girls nearby. But for some reason, they didn't show up in my pictures. It wasn't as much of a sausage fest as it looks here.

BACKSTORY: Kasson Crooker was not available and was replaced for this show, but Liz Enthusiasm and The Other Sean T. Drinkwater played, and some members of the (horrible) opening "band" sometimes played some backup instruments as well. Freezepop played the following songs: Boys On Film, Parlez Vous Freezepop, Science Genius Girl (diff mix than the FreQuency or Freezepop Forever versions), Bike Thief, Get Ready 2 Rokk, Frontload, Super-Sprode, Brainpower, Plastic Stars, Stakeout, Less Talk More Rokk, The Final Countdown (by Europe). The only disappointing thing was that they did not Freezepop Forever or the Jem & The Holograms theme - the two most-requested songs by the auidence.

Playa Forti is a beach on the Caribbean island of Curaçao, located near the village of Westpunt in the north-west of the Island. It is a sandy beach with small pebbles. There are a snack bar and a restaurant. Close to the restaurant, there is a spot where one can make a 10 metre jump from a cliff into the sea. The lyrics "We're going to jump at Playa Forti" (Dutch: Bij Playa Forti gaan we springen) figure in a song of Dutch rapper Brainpower. (Wikipedia)

There are a lot of parents out there with college students who are entering final exam time. Whether it’s their first year or their senior year, there is still a lot of stress and little extra time to take care of life’s necessities.
This time of year is the perfect opportunity to send your student a care package. To take the hassle out of thinking what to include, we’ve provided a go-to list on what to put into the box! Remember to include extras since roommates will be looking to share!
Useful items
Let’s start with the necessary items first. Since it’s the end of the year, school supplies might be running short. Include a couple of pencils, pens, highlighters and sticky notes. If your child is moving out of the dorm or having to pack up all their belongings for the summer, consider buying things cheap since all these items could get thrown away in the end of the year cleanup.
And speaking of that, if deep cleaning will need to take place prior to heading out for the summer, add supplies to the package. This will prevent your student from having to run to the store while also juggling studying, packing, and sleeping.
Brainpower food
While chips and sweets may be fun to nibble on while pouring over books, it’s important your student maintains a healthy diet. Nuts—specifically walnuts—are a top food for brain health. Visit the Vending Nut Company in Fort Worth to create a custom nut combination specifically tailored for your child. If you can’t make it to their store, they also sell gift tins that can be shipped directly. Dried fruits, granola bars and bottles of water are also great options to include.
Fun food
In addition to healthy food, everyone loves a treat now and then. Finals are the perfect excuse to send a favorite treat! In addition to candy, consider treating them to themed iced cookies. You can order custom cookies featuring the college mascot or colors from local Fort Worth bakery, Haute Cakes and Cookies. If your student is local, Tiff’s Treats is another option and an easy way to send warm chocolate chip cookies and milk straight to the library!
Gift cards
In addition to the stress, the end of the year can get expensive. Between putting deposits down for new apartments and all the opportunities to go out with friends one last time, money can easily become tight. Include gift cards to your student’s favorite restaurants or coffee shops to help ease the financial burden.
Add a note
Finish the care package off with a note of encouragement. With tensions running high and stress from tests and papers piling up, a reminder of the support of your parents can mean a lot. No matter how old your child is, a sincere note can change their day. If your child is returning for the summer, remind them that you are happy to have them home. It can be hard to transition from the freedom of college back into the home with rules and curfews. Reminding them they are welcome and that you’re happy to have them will make the transition easier.
School is almost over and, with it, finals! If you have any favorites for care packages, make sure to let us know for our packages next year!

You'd have to live under a rock today not to know that space shuttle Discovery was being transported to Dulles airport in preparation for its installment in the Udvar-Hazy air & space museum, just across highway 28. The plan was for the flight to make a victory lap between 10-11am around Washington, DC, low & slow, then land at Dulles international.
I live 15 minutes from Dulles airport and the space museum. I set out at 930 to drive to the space museum parking lot. A half hour later I was stuck in traffic along with all the other folks headed toward the airport and only 1/4 of the way there. As i coasted along, I looked out my windshield and doesn't that shuttle just cruise by, low, heading toward the airport? Well, no pictures, but at least I got to see it. Did it land early? No, just starting the circle of the city. Downtown, Washington was all but grid-locked as people stopped along the streets, & came out of workplaces in droves.
Rte 50 was just creeping, and rte 28 where the airport is, was a parking lot. No way I was going to get there. At this point, people are just stopping on the sides of the road, and in parking lots along the way. I was able to get to a service road along rte 50 about 2 miles south of the airport. Had a swell time chatiing with other spectators.
At 1040, the shuttle cruised by, low and slow with a fighter escort. And don't you know, it made a second pass a bit later. What a view! What an experience. I felt like I could reach out and touch it.
On the way home, I found myself reflecting on the significance of this artifact. The brainpower and manpower that conceived of this and brought it to fruition, the courage of those who flew it, indeed the courage of those who imagined it are a testament to the human spirit. It is not about patriotism for me; it is about the astounding magic of human achievement.
