Austriacas, luchando por los derechos de la mujer
Con el establecimiento de las primeras asociaciones de mujeres comenzó en 1867 una lucha aún en curso por la igualdad de las mujeres. Para obtener los derechos de la mujer en materia educativa y el voto femenino lucharon personalidades como Marianne Hainisch y Adelheid Popp.
Los primeros enfoques del movimiento de las mujeres austriacas surgieron del movimiento 1848: La asociación política-democrática de mujeres protestó contra los salarios más bajos para las mujeres. Ridiculizado por muchos hombres y como el derecho de asociaciones y de reunión de 1867 las mujeres prohibió la participación en asociaciones explícitamente políticos, pronto abandonada, se continuó en unas asociaciones benéficas y educativas.
El movimiento por los derechos femeninos defendió especialmente para más derechos y oportunidades para las mujeres en la educación. Mit der Gründung der ersten Frauenvereine begann 1867 ein noch immer andauernder Kampf um die Gleichberechtigung der Frauen. Für Frauenrechte im Bildungsbereich und das Frauenwahlrecht kämpften Persönlichkeiten wie Marianne Hainisch und Adelheid Popp.
Erste Ansätze der österreichischen Frauenbewegung gingen aus der 1848er-Bewegung hervor: Der politisch-demokratische Frauenverein protestierte gegen die geringeren Löhne für Frauen. Von vielen Männern belächelt und da das Vereins- und Versammlungsrecht von 1867 Frauen die Mitgliedschaft in explizit politischen Vereinen untersagte, bald wieder aufgelassen, fand er seine Fortsetzung in karitativen und Bildungsvereinen.
Die Frauenrechtsbewegung setzte sich vor allem für mehr Rechte und Chancen von Frauen im Bildungsbereich ein. Mit dem Reichsvolkschulgesetz 1869 wurde ein erster Schritt getan: Mädchen aller Bevölkerungsschichten durften nun auch Mittelschulen besuchen.
Mit der schulischen Ausbildung konnten sich Frauen in neuen Berufsfeldern betätigen. Vorrangig wurden sie Lehrerinnen und Erzieherinnen. Im öffentlichen Sektor blieb der Frauenanteil bis 1890 allerdings sehr gering (drei Prozent). Ziel der bürgerlichen Frauenvereine wie des „Österreichische Vereins für Lehrerinnen und Erzieherinnen“, 1869 von Marianne Hainisch gegründet, war es, Frauen auch Zugang zur höheren Bildung zu ermöglichen. Aufgrund ihres Engagements wurde 1892 in Wien das erste Gymnasium für Mädchen eingerichtet und 1897 erstmals Frauen der Zugang zur Wiener Universität gewährt. Der Hochschulzugang beschränkte sich allerdings zunächst auf die Philosophische Fakultät und wurde 1900 auf die medizinische Fakultät ausgeweitet. 1919 schließlich erhielten Frauen Zugang zu allen Universitätsfächern.
Proletarische Frauenvereine traten für Arbeiterinnen und Hausgehilfinnen ein, welche sozial und rechtlich unterprivilegiert und vom gültigen Zensuswahlrecht ausgeschlossen waren. Eine führende Persönlichkeit des „Arbeiterinnen-Bildungsvereins“ (1890 gegründet) war Adelheid Popp. Als Redakteurin der „Arbeiterinnen-Zeitung“, die seit 1893 als Beilage der sozialdemokratischen „Arbeiter-Zeitung“ herausgegeben wurde, schuf sie für Frauen ein öffentliches Sprachrohr. Später wurden diese Vereine in die Sozialdemokratische Partei eingegliedert, die als Massenpartei weiterhin für das allgemeine Frauenwahlrecht eintrat. Eine gleichberechtigte politische Mitsprache konnte erst 1918 mit dem allgemeinen, direkten, gleichen und geheimen Wahlrecht für alle ÖsterreicherInnen durchgesetzt werden.

Kira Mayes gets to shock the nervous system of her family member William Mayes just by moving her own muscles at the Neural Engineering: Talking & Listening to Nerves session.
At this workshop, participants learn how sensations are turned into feelings and ideas into actions. Instructors will use insects to teach campers how to engineer the nervous system and show you how neuroscience can move robotic arms with brainpower to help paralyzed people walk.
Xplore Engineering is a two day camp designed for alumni and the children in their life entering the 4th through 7th grade. Each summer nearly 200 alums and their kids participate. Through a series of experiential workshops, participants get hands-on experience in a variety of engineering disciplines. They can choose sessions from 15 workshops ranging from neuroscience to self-driving cars.

The University of Vienna is the oldest university in the German-speaking and -cultural area, and both the largest university in Austria as well as in German-speaking countries.
History

The founding document of the University was signed on 12th March in 1365 by Duke Rudolph IV and his brothers Albert III and Leopold III. signed and the university therefore is also called "Alma Mater Rudolphina". It is after the University of Prague, then part of the Holy Roman Empire, the second oldest university in Central Europe. The present main building was built in 1877-1884 by Heinrich von Ferstel on the Vienna ring road (Ringstraße), previously the main building was near the office door (Stubentor), at Ignaz- Seipel-Platz, where the old University Church and the Austrian Academy of Sciences are located. In 1897, women were first admitted as regular listeners, even if at first only in the philosophical faculty. The remaining faculties partly followed at a considerable distance: 1900 the medical, the juridical 1919, 1923, Evangelical theological and in 1946 finally allowed the Catholic theological faculty women as ordinary listeners. With the romanist Elise Richter succeeded eight years after the start of the women studying at the University of Vienna the first woman to habilitate (1905), she was 1921 also the first extraordinary professor. Only after the Second World War, the physicist Berta Karlik was appointed to the first full professor of the University of Vienna.
Research and teaching
Currently are around 63,000 students in about 130 disciplines at the University of Vienna enrolled, of which 22 are bachelor and 27 master's programs. The research activity of the University is carried in total of approximately 6,100 researchers and scientists. Of these 6,100 persons are approximately 3,200 people staff of the University of Vienna, about 900 people are active in projects that are financed by external funds. Among the 6,100 scientists and academics are also about 2,000 lecturers, many of whom also contribute to the research at the University of Vienna.
Location
The scientific institutions of the University of Vienna are spread over 60 locations in Vienna. The center is the historic main building on the Ringstrasse (Universitätsring). Here is the seat of the university management and the administration of most organizations. Another spatial center constitutes the nearby situated university campus, where the majority of scientific institutions has settled and the new auditorium center was built.

Structure
Rector of the University of Vienna is currently Georg Winckler. The University of Vienna is divided into several departments and centers. Under the new law, the University Medical School in 2004 spun off into the Medical University of Vienna, as well as before the economic studies were released into independence. Other faculties were also restructured, so the natural science faculty was divided into a number of small but specialized units.

At this workshop, participants learn how sensations are turned into feelings and ideas into actions. Instructors will use insects to teach campers how to engineer the nervous system and show you how neuroscience can move robotic arms with brainpower to help paralyzed people walk.
Xplore Engineering is a two day camp designed for alumni and the children in their life entering the 4th through 7th grade. Each summer nearly 200 alums and their kids participate. Through a series of experiential workshops, participants get hands-on experience in a variety of engineering disciplines. They can choose sessions from 15 workshops ranging from neuroscience to self-driving cars.

Stack Overflow: the Blind Leading the Blind

It's not great to see an example of the Nerd bully at work. Anonymous, negative and probably wrong.
This is a bogus article. Why? Well firstly you can't gauge the writer? Who has written this? They have an opinion but everyone has opinions. So what is the meat of the writers idea:

Usenet is an example of a broken model. Sure you can ask a question and get an answer. You might get 50. So how do you work out who's is right and the best? Force of personality? Discussion? By the time you have followed this discussion the noise/sig has diluted the answer possibly for the person who asked the question. What about others who ask the same question 5 years down the line? Where is the knowledge trapped? How are the experts identified? What you get is a unfocused threaded discussion arguing the merits of proposed solutions punctuated by the random Star Trek pun or maybe a lame Simpsons joke.
The ideas behind Stack Overflow are worth looking at. Forget who is doing it. Don't like Joel or Atwood, Fine. But finding answers to specific questions, finding good answers, evaluating responders and filtering the best results and preserving them is a worthy idea. The filtering of information and building the reputations of users who contribute is proving to be a real problem. Something to look at a bit closer.
The questions and answers might be crap at the moment. But maintaining that an archaic system is the best way to do things is making a statement about the writer.

Look at it another way. Would you take this approach to evaluating other types of information, links for example? Would you make a list of all the good websites and organising them for others to read? Or would you organise links utilising computers, software & inferred information form humans to do the same thing.

The Songs are among the participants in the Michigan Engineering’s Xplore Engineering summer camp in Ann Arbor.
At the Neural Engineering,Talking and Listening to Nerves workshop, camp participants learn about how nerves work and how sensations are turned into feelings and ideas into actions. BME students and faculty use insects to teach camp participants how to engineer the nervous system and show how neuroscience can move robotic arms with brainpower to help paralyzed people walk.
Xplore Engineering summer camp is designed for Michigan Engineering alumni and the children in their life entering the 4th through 7th grade. Through a series of experiential workshops, participants get hands-on experience in a variety of engineering disciplines. Participants can choose to participate in 6 out of 18 workshops ranging from nanotechnology to rocketry.

Oh wow! Someone actually threw underwear on the stage when the lyrics said "now throw your undies on the stage... no wait.... you're underage"! Someone must have been planning this! I was surprised enough that they played Super-Sprode, as I thought people didn't know that song. But they played what I consider to be their 4 "main" video game songs: Science Genius Girl from FreQuency, Super-Sprode from Amplitude, Get Ready 2 Rokk from Guitar Hero 1, and More Talk Less Rokk from Guitar Hero 2.

BACKSTORY: Kasson Crooker was not available and was replaced for this show, but Liz Enthusiasm and The Other Sean T. Drinkwater played, and some members of the (horrible) opening "band" sometimes played some backup instruments as well. Freezepop played the following songs: Boys On Film, Parlez Vous Freezepop, Science Genius Girl (diff mix than the FreQuency or Freezepop Forever versions), Bike Thief, Get Ready 2 Rokk, Frontload, Super-Sprode, Brainpower, Plastic Stars, Stakeout, Less Talk More Rokk, The Final Countdown (by Europe). The only disappointing thing was that they did not Freezepop Forever or the Jem & The Holograms theme - the two most-requested songs by the auidence.

Die Wiedereröffnung der Universität Wien und der Umgang mit dem Nationalsozialismus nach Kriegsende 1945
4.1945–2015
Die Universität Wien nahm trotz massiver Kriegszerstörungen unmittelbar nach Kriegsende wieder ihren Betrieb auf. Die Aufarbeitung der Involvierung der eigenen Institution in den Nationalsozialismus und die Disziplinierung der meist weiterhin nationalsozialistisch gesinnten Angehörigen trat jedoch in den Jahren ab 1945 zunehmend hinter die Aufgaben des "Wiederaufbaus" und "Neuanfangs" zurück. Doch Nationalsozialismus (und Austrofaschismus) hatten tiefe Spuren hinterlassen, die jahrzehntelang in der Universität und weit darüber hinaus nachwirkten.
Wiederaufbau und Restauration
Am 10. April 1945 erreichten die ersten sowjetischen Soldaten das Wiener Universitätsviertel und nutzen das verlassene Hauptgebäude der Universität Wien kurzzeitig als Lazarett (Turnsäle) und Pferdestall.
Die Wochen um die Wiedereröffnung der Universität Wien wurden besonders von Kurt Schubert detailreich beschrieben. Mit seinen autobiografischen Berichten schrieb sich Schubert als selbsternannter „Studentenrektor“ und als zentrale Figur des Wiederaufbaus in die Geschichte der Universität Wien ein. Nach seinem Bericht nahm er zwischen 12 und 15. April Kontakt zur österreichischen Widerstandsbewegung „O5“ sowie zum sowjetischen Stadtkommandanten General Alexej Blagodatow auf, berief eine erste Professorenkonferenz am Institut für Ägyptologie und Afrikanistik in der Frankgasse 1 ein und übernahm als provisorischer „Rektor“ (ausgestattet mit einem entwendeten Rektorsstempel) das geräumte Hauptgebäude der Universität Wien von den sowjetischen Befreiern. Tags darauf, am 16. April, wurde folgende Bekanntmachung veröffentlicht:
„Alle Studentinnen und Studenten, die im Sommersemester 1945 inskribieren wollen, werden aufgefordert, unverzüglich in die Universität zu kommen und einen zehnstündigen Räumeinsatz zu leisten. Beginn des Sommersemester am 2. Mai."
