"Boxing Glove" cake, done for a birthday. The glove part was made with my Marble cake and the "cuff" section was my cherry/vanilla cake. It was filled with Dolce de Leche buttercream and then wrapped in fondant and worked to show details and creases, along with some added stitching effect.

Muay Thai (Thai boxing) is Thailand’s national sport. Thai boxing isn’t just about fighting, it’s also about ritual, ceremony and respect.

It’s widely believed that the modern form of Muay Thai traces its roots back to a form of unarmed combat performed by Siamese soldiers. Much of the tradition from ancient times still remains intact, particularly in the pre-fight ceremonies and the adornments each fighter wears when entering the ring.

The modern day Muay Thai fighter enters the ring wearing garlands of flowers around his neck, cotton armbands known as prajiad around the biceps and a sacred cotton headband, known as mongkhon.

In Thai boxing, any part of the body, except for the head, can be used to attack an opponent. The target area is any part of the body, except for the groin. Fighters wear boxing gloves, but it is often kicks or elbows to the head which result in knock-outs. Bouts normally consist of 5 rounds. Each round lasts 3 minutes with a 2 minute rest between each round.

Tourists mainly go to the Rose Garden to watch the internationally acclaimed Thai Village Cultural Show. However, there are plenty of other activities at the Rose Garden to keep you busy. The Living the Thai Culture programme is situated around the Thai Village where there are different bases to learn more about every day traditional life in Thailand. These include: Dancing and Musical Instrument, Garland Making & Fruit Carving, Traditional Pottery, Thai Martial Arts, Silk Processing, Traditional Weaving, Umbrella Painting, Thai Country Kitchen, Orchid Nursery, Thai Herbal Pavilion, Bamboo Dancing and Rice Farming.
