packed boxes. filled them with memory's i wanted to switch. moved on without them...felt not as free as i hoped without them. missed something that made me the way i am
Had some fun today with one of the small drawers I salvaged from the jewelry box. I made a shadow box using shells and jute. This measures approximately 6 inches by 3-1/2 inches. I'm messy with glue but I enjoyed myself! :P
Luckily for me, Playmobil boxes in the early 1990s still included a scene of the set in diorama settings with figures and objects from other sets on the back of the box. The back of the “Harbour Guard” set featured a fantastic diorama of the guards escorting recently captured pirates through the town gates. I love how other members of the pirate crew are being presented as sailors in this scene and how the diorama incorporates elements of other genres, such as the knights and Victorian themes.
Just a quick little box, for fun. Lacewood sides, Zebrawood on top. Tiniest hinges I've ever seen, but they seem fine. The box is 3 inches by 4 inches by about 3 and half inches tall.
I really like the look of Lacewood's endgrain, so I left the end grain showing on the front and back, as a feature, rather than mitre the corners like I might normally do.
From my daily painting series: A creepy jack-in-the-box inspired by one I saw somewhere recently.

The Utah National Guard was activated to assist firefighting efforts on the Box Canyon Fire burning approximately 12 miles east of Oakley, Utah, Aug. 28. Utah’s 2nd Battalion, 211th Aviation Regiment, 97th Aviation Troop Command, provided two Black Hawk helicopters, each with two pilots and a crew chief, to help suppress the fire with water from the air. The town where I used to live in SC was in watermelon country. This roadside stand near where I used to live operated on trust. Just stop and pick out a melon and put your money in the Honesty Box.
Another dusk shot from Summerland, 2011. Mailboxes just up the road from Mum's house. I love the strong horizontal light and shadows at this time of day, and formal regularity of the boxes themselves.
