These remind me of Dottie and when I first got her and she was so sick. She wouldn't eat anything and a guy I worked with gave me a box of these because his dog couldn't have them. His "kindness" to me makes me tear up even now 2 1/2 years later, because I am having such a hard time now. Since I can't take her to work with me like I used to, things are really hard with her. She is at home a lot by herself and makes messes inside. It is super frustrating. Even when I first wake up in the morning I am cleaning up messes. And these "cute" biscuits and Dottie is cute, but it is like I can't enjoy her.
A quick 'grab' shot of life on the Sydney streets. I've no idea, other than they're had one drink too many, for them to be wearing boxes on their heads. (bad hair day?).
This box is one of several simple modifications of Hexagonal Predictable Box. Two sides are shortened, resulting in a box that looks like the face of a teddy bear. You can add a number of lid designs to cover this box (will be published as separate models).

Handmade and screen printed boxes made for Ferrer & Mayor — en El Calotipo.
I made this box by hand and then used traditional carving tools to hand carve it . The box design based on a medieval reliquary .The carving is a traditional chip carving design . The cool thing about this type of carving is it's done with a single knife . It's made from poplar wood not that great a wood . Usually hidden or stained , or painted . I think it turned out all right ,but not my favorite .

Was very fashionable years ago. Everything else seems to be coming back into fashion. Why not the Toilet Roll covers and Tissue Box covers? All I need now is the tissues.

I recently wanted to experiment with wooden hinges for an unusual box I was making.
After reading Roger Gifkins excellent article (available for free download from www.gifkins.com.au/SingleActionWoodenHinge.pdf), I decided that I really did not want to work to the precision required for Roger’s method.
The method detailed below demonstrates how easy it is to make wooden hinges without a great deal of precision. The technique involves making a set of individual hinge fingers and then assembling them to make the completed hinge. An added bonus is that two or more contrasting timbers can be used to give a unique feel to the hinges (as in the photo of the completed box).
I make no claim to originality. These hinges are so simple to make that there must be others who have or are using this technique.
This little Sharp 'Elsimate' EL8131 came with it's box and instructions too. It has LEDs, nice and bright!
Someone must have treasured it. It probably cost quite a lot back in the 70's.
One of Donald Judd's famous boxes. There are two buildings with glass walls on the sides that contain about 50 boxes each. While all the boxes have the same external dimensions, each box is constructed differently. They all catch and reflect the light differently. The effect is breathtaking. This box is a prototype of many more to come. A friend of ours, a rock nut, came across a bunch of tile samples with genuine gemstone intarsia patterns. He also had the mesquite wood and asked if there was anything I could do with it all.
This is the result.
As stated, the primary wood is mesquite. beautiful to work with. I used eucalyptus to back the black onyx and abalone tile so it'll show on the inside of the lid. The pegs are bamboo and the lid is hinged with brass rod.
It measures approximately 3 x 3 x 6".
This, being the first, will go to Jim.
This one is taken with my "old" Nikon FG-20. A camera I haven't used in about 20 years or so. Bought me some film to try a few rolls. This one is taken with a Kodak Color 200.
