Coraline Gift Box Reveal (Part 1 / Teaser)

Here's a quick teaser-peek into the hand-made "Gift Box" I'd receive from the animation team behind CORALINE The Movie [tagged] directed by Henry Selick (Nightmare Before Christmas / James & The Giant Peach) based on a fairytale by Neil Gaiman.

Numbered 23 out of 50 existing boxes worldwide - this perhaps may be personally one of the more treasured and honored "gift" I've received thus far in 2008. Simple "Thank Yous" may not be good enough, I'm afraid. Will strive to process and upload full reveal pics before the year ends (and share my "manly joy" ... heh) ... Meanwhile, higher-res versions of this video can be found via my Flickr / Multiply / Vimeo / Facebook.

I really enjoyed making all of those boxes blocks in the scrappy solids and in black & white, so I want to try them in prints now. I'll start with red, orange, yellow and purple and then see if I want any other colors.

My dream became bigger and bigger. And the box got bigger than the message, than the Gospel.

Updated image with different designs of post box from around the world.

This updated image includes the addition of a Canadian Community Mail Box (3rd from left). The real things have a number of small aluminium doors on the front for lots of people's mail to be delivered to. I have been told that there can be 1 to 3 of these grouped together in one place. Presumably, it depends on how many houses it serves.

So, from left to right, we have a British post box, an American post box, a Canadian Communtiy post box, a Standard Canadian post box, an older style of Canadian post box, and an Australian post box.

The yellow half of the Australian post box is for Express mail and the red half is for Normal mail.

Although totally generic, i've never minded the Bread Box van by Hot Wheels with its cute dimensions and pastiche styling of an old U.S. box van. Most appear to sport fairly wacky colour schemes and this new version is no exception including its multicoloured wheels. Part of the new 2015 range of Hot Wheels which B&M Bargains appear to have stock of before most of the major U.K. supermarkets. Mint and boxed.

This is my newest (latest) camera. A Zeiss Ikon Baby Box, model Frontar. This camera was introduced in 1931 and takes up 127 roll film. It has a fixed focal distance and a shuter speeds of 1/25 or B. The wired frame indicater pushes down for storage and locks the shutter. To prevend you from accidentaly taking a picture. Originaly most prints would have been contact prints, so the pictures would be 3x4cm

Everything is tied together with a pretty chipboard box with a finish that's kinda of like a sparkly white on it. It's taken me a long time to locate a copy with the obi as well.

A post box on the side of the 'Rabbit Run' road from Telford to Wombourne in Shropshire (and Staffordshire respectively) UK. Locals will know it, others probably have their own 'Rabbit Runs'........anyway, I digress. I nearly got run over twice by passing cars when trying to get the right angle for the shot from a precarious footing on the roadside verge.

Product: Like Button Tip Box

Do you believe in tipping ?

It is amazing how often this question is asked and debated.

Reality: Tipping is a multi billion dollar industry!

Say goodbye to the Tip Boxes because the Like Box is taking over.

...in the education library. The fact that they look like museum pieces doesn't make me feel remotely old. **cough**

I am extremely excited about Coraline. I really really really wanted to receive an Other Mother box in the mail, but I didn't. So, I had to make my own. I'll be posting an Instructable on it soon.

I finally received the last moe body, which means that all of my girls are now complete (no more body sharing!), and they look absolutely amazing together. I'm so happy! :D

Cecilia, Seraphina and Rosalie were also very excited about it and helped me unwrap Kenna's body. Here are some photos of the box opening:

Here are four potential options for the Soiree Bento Box quilt. The top two are more of the traditional Bento Box, just adjusting color placement differently. The bottom two use more of a window payne look and come from a quilt called "Boxed In' found in Sew Scrappy, Volume One by BHG Creative Collection, 2010. I think I like the two bottom best and maybe even leaning toward the black sashing...what do you think? Created with fd's Flickr Toys

it was a treasure in the box! at least when I put today's library finds in it. they're selling books right now!

Toto, I've a feeling we're not in Kansas anymore!

One of the many signs that I'm back in the UK; and every time I see one of these, I'm reminded of a poem I learned as a child -

The pillar box is fat and red

It's mouth is very wide.

It wears a tammy on its head.

It must be dark inside!

And really it's the greatest fun

Thanks to Kim Klassen for the texture!

The delivery man came and dropped off three HUGE boxes in the road outside the house today at lunchtime. He wasn't willing to put them in the driveway. Or take away the cardboard. Or the wood. Or in fact, do anything that might be construed as "helpful". A neighbour helped pry them open with his crowbar - we had to get them off the street before it got dark and/or started to rain. As they took up one half of the road, I was also afraid there might be a terrible traffic accident!

It took two hours for me to open up the boxes, and then my poor mother helped me carry them into the garage.

The only injury was to my mother's foot when she tripped over a palette that the delivery man left behind.

Oh, the box does indeed say "Harley Davidson" as the crating company mostly dealt with US bikes. The delivery man was momentarily interested until I said it wasn't a HD, it was a BMW. He didn't actually believe me that it wasn't an HD. He was an idiot.

This photo took me back to my photography class where I would go out shooting with some of my class mates we always used to come back with the same or similar photos, it taught me to think outside the box see what everyone else is shooting and think about how I can make it different, can i see the photo they are shooting and find a different take a different approach can I make it better? This is the reason I couldn't resist taking this photo of all the students photographing the same model on the same ledge in the same position doing the same pose.
