We saw one of these last year - but just the one, so owners of box hedges I hope shouldn't worry too much (apparently if you get a lot of them, the caterpillars can completely defoliate box).
Again another box variation.

During our stay in Marseille we spent a day in Arles seeing the ampitheatre and walking around the city. It was market day and very busy. These window boxes caught my eye
A keepsake box with stained glass windows on all sides. Once again the lid grips the box with those handy cheese slopes. The roof was a lot of fun to make; I can see why people get into into castle building :)

Sadly it would appear that Bardon Mill signal box is not long for this world. Having been switched out for more than 15 years it would seem from the document linked below that Network Rail want rid.
Today's art is often meant to be interpreted by the beholder. So what is the message sent by this object: Art in boxes? Boxed in art? Many boxes of art? Art is risking to fall?
Whatever; I like this sculpture!

Isn't it beautiful in Summer, to see houses, walls, windows and facades, decorated and cheered up with flowers.
Some people just do not have a garden, what a brilliant solution, for all of us!
Do we even think about that now or is it just another given?
It suddenly dawned on me.
I think there is a trend though, to also have autumn and winter plants and fun.
Oh please, ANYTHING to make our moods brighter, lol.
Thank you, M, (*_*)

HAPPY EARTH DAY!
100% biodegradable fiberboard water containers are starting to be a common site in and around the Navajo Nation. These earth friendly boxes are at a convenience store in Bluff, San Juan County, Utah. It's definitely time to start finding and using alternatives to single use plastic. Of course a reusable water bottle would be even better!

Little Box, little Box, wonder at the world through your cardboard smile
A one day build made from card, wire and a few kitbashed parts.
Box is a character from the walking city, I have artwork of them but not on my home computer so I'll upload those photos on Wednesday
This origami box represents a flower of the genus Houstonia, also known as bluets or Quaker Ladies. Some species, in particular Houstonia caerulea have four petals which is relatively rare among flowers. However, it is very convenient for the origamist who wants to fold from a square.
The flower can also be tessellated, with each molecule taking up a 12×12 grid. After designing it, I found a similar model by Ilan Garibi, called Criss Cross Tessellation, but as you see, in my model the center of the flower is locked together while in Ilan’s, both ends of each petal are free.

dinner was delicious last night and we managed not to to disturb Georgina in her new box. She doesn't know it but in the box was a device to help trim her voluminous fur coat, we are going to try it later, wish us luck :)
Brighton Bathing Boxes - I thought since the net is saturated with photos of the wonderful colours of the different boxes, I would do something a bit different and hi light the different textures rather than colour. Always good to try something a little different

Box Turtles usually just lay one clutch of eggs per year. They dig nests several inches below the soil. Incubation usually lasts three months, but is somewhat dependent on the soil’s temperature and moisture. As in other turtle species, the temperature of the nest determines the sex of the hatchlings. Warmer nests tend to produce females, while cooler nests produce males. Eastern box turtles reach maturity at 10 to 20 years old and can live to be more than 100 years old. Our beautiful world, pass it on.

I've enjoyed winter. I've enjoyed the desert. But I'm starting to get excited at the thought of more summer-like hiking returning. I can't wait to be in the high places again.

28/52: The ugly duckling
Amsterdam, Netherlands
I spend a very significant chunk of my life in rehearsal studios. Many rehearsal studios are rooms with black walls, black floors and often no windows (and I can remember several that were nicknamed "the black box"). They aren't always inherently ugly spaces (and some are really nice), but I can't say most would be something I'd choose to look at if I didn't have to.
The rehearsal studio at the Carré theatre in Amsterdam happened to be a fairly nice, spacious version of a black box with a large window...and the silhouetting in the photo covers up the various cluttery tables and chairs that were lined up along the walls.
We had a man come into health class a little while ago to talk to us about depression and we watched a video. Over and over again people were saying it felt like they were in a box, that what they were feeling and thinking trapped them inside of themselves and they just didn't have the willpower to get out. I think a lot of times we can isolate ourselves just because of us and that's kind of what this photo was supposed to represent. I was really hoping to work with form in a space since it was just me to take photos of and then I saw this graffiti wall with a window and the natural light just kind of made everything have a soft glow, and it came together:)
