I suddenly realised that a lot of 'younger' togs would possibly not know of a Box Brownie... It was a very low cost Eastman Kodak camera that revolutionised the taking of photos by 'The masses'..
Volunteer signaller Mandy at the levers in the signal box at Arley station during Severn Valley Railway’s Step Back to the 1940s event on 8 June 2025.
The current signal box was reconstructed from 1974 to 1976 approximately on the site of the original signal box. The frame, which has 30 levers, is originally from Kidderminster Station.

An antique dealer friend of mine gave these to me today. Quite a few model parts, decals and brochures are still in the boxes. The Chevy truck is built and complete.
a test........ so the macromonday theme for 4/8 is "look up" and i was flummoxed as to how to light it-- among other questions. if you'll look in the first comment box, you'll see what i came up with. methinks there will be a veritable host of possibilities after i figure out a stand to hold the objects. and oh, all those outside things using natural light are definitely on the idea/possibilities table
PLEASE, NO invitations or self promotions, THEY WILL BE DELETED. My photos are FREE to use, just give me credit and it would be nice if you let me know, thanks.
Just finished making a Tack Box for my granddaughter who owns a horse, she needed a new box for the saddle and other things.
Not a great shot, just a quick one before the box leaves my house.....
Box camera for roll film size 620 , made in England by Kodak Ltd. in 1933 . Brown-coloured version .
The digit “7” on this box’s lid is a tessellation molecule, derived from the one on Z-Box. Hiding one of the horizontal bars sounded like a simple enough exercise, but proved to be more difficult than I expected. Still, the end result is pretty neat, and rotated upside-down, the character can also double as the letter “L”.
The Kouzo-Bokashi Four Seasons washi I used looks beautiful, but was too thin for a box, making the finished model rather fragile.
Found a little Bratz box containing alot of clothes and jewelry, all recycled from lines like treasures, magic hair, princess and punks.
Wanted a change from the food :) The pearls although broken were a gift a few years ago but the box is from Kashmir (a friend went a few years ago :D)
...Brey’s “boxes” are only boxes in a single sense. They appear ordinary and familiar from the outside, but at the point of contact, interaction or performance they begin to unfold. The material and situational complexity of works like Sutra, 2010, The Black Cube, 2012, Water 2013, The Uncanny, 2015 and others, reveal themselves to be constellations within a Caribbean universe. Through them, Brey speaks to the infinity of the natural world, the sublime possibilities of one’s dreams and imagination. In part, thee works also act as psychological container of fractured history, blurred and concise memories and through material, form and experience, enter the fifth dimension. Kaliphlin may be a war torn, battle scarred guild, but here as elsewhere, ordinary hardworking people bring everyday beauty to lives throughout the Siccus Badlands.
My first contribution to the Kaliphlin at Work collab. Don't miss the rest over at Guilds of Historica!
See the build behind the scenes and read about its making here at my blog!
The signal box at Welshpool - from the train, 30/6/83. The netting and posts are possibly ex- tablet catchers?
Just east of Elgin on the A96 is Automobile Association box no. 714 name "Threapland"
( Thanks to Jeff Wharton for AA man photo and Piepjemiffy for background photo of Box number 714 and vintage Vauxhall 14 from about 1947 )
- www.kevin-palmer.com - I've always wanted to see what Box Canyon looks like from this overlook. It was very scenic after the snow the evening before.
