Achter het boompje met de gouden blaadjes: voormalig 17de-eeuws speelhuis, in 1877 verbouwd en ingericht als “zaadkoepel” bij de toen naast gelegen palmenkas en oranjerie (later vervangen door het Hugo-de-Vries-laboratorium). Het klein achtjoekig gebouwtje, bestaande uit kelder, begane grond met daarop een eveneens achtzijdige lichtkoepel, is onderdeel van de Hortus Botanicus. Rijksmonument nummer: 518276

In de Hortus Botanicus van Haren werd het China Light Festival gehouden. Prachtige verlichte objecten waren er te zien. Voor jong en oud. Ook veel chinaïsme, zoals Confucius, Chinese Draken, Lotusbloemen, Goudvissen Vlinders, Tijgers Neushoorns en Olifanten te zien. Alles mooi verlicht. Sprookjesachtige sfeer. Prachtig voor kinderen.
