Hortus Botanicus is the botanical gardens in Amsterdam, Holland.
While visiting the place I was walking along this path when on turning round the bend I was suddenly faced with this array of wildflowers. After a miserable day walking through the streets in heavy rain from morning time, this contrast of the beautiful flowers struck me so intensely and deeply I felt I had to paint it, to capture all the bursting emotion that filled me in that moment.
