The book is bound in black card stock that I spray painted silver and then sanded off to make it look aged. The concept here was the cover is a brand new time machine and the book is the machine some years in the future. I included the rivets on the cover by way of embossing.

Oh Henry, what kind of trouble have you and your red wagon gotten into now? At least your buddies are there to help you out.
Some books feel old to the touch. The exposed edges of this book were yellowed by time and stiff from years of life between two bookends.
This is a 100-page art cookbook I
designed for the Cooperstown Art
Association. It consists of recipes used
at receptions at the gallery, recipes from
local artists, and artwork from those
artists. It is organized and embellished by
my original vector artwork rendered in
Adobe Illustrator. In addition to creating
all the design elements throughout, I
arranged and color corrected all the
artists’ work. Here you will find several
sample pages including the front and back
covers. It was my intention to convey
creativity and tastefulness at the same
time.
Book Plates have historically been used to denote ownership of books. They would be printed and then placed inside the covers with the owner's name on them so that when people borrowed books they would know who to return it to. These were commonly used before the 20th century when books were much more expensive to manufacture and purchase. Mine is based on Penrose Tilings, a non-repeating tessellating pattern I'm rather fond of. It gives the piece a look of stained glass windows. I left the bottom open for my name and the 'Ex Libris' or 'from the library of'.
