Stillness is a collection of ambient photobooks, a year long series of experiments with ethereality, materiality and time. Eleven editions were published by FoAM on or near the new moons of 2015/2016 and a limited number of prints from each cycle were made. The final iteration is a collated selection of photographs from the series, with an introduction by Timothy Morton and epilogue by Maja Kuzmanovic, published in an edition of 300 by MER. Paper Kunsthalle and FoAM.
The book is available at the MER. webshop, or if you are further afield from Anagram Books or Perimeter

The Concept
In the world of Orwell’s 1984, the individual is not important. Rewriting the past in order to control the future, world domination, the Party and Oceania are the only things that matter. I wanted the design to convey the same themes: war, censorship, propaganda, absolute obedience and brainwashing.
The treatment of the image is suppose to convey a dreary feeling and by masking the face of the subject, he is no longer important. I deliberately placed white space across the cover at eye level to accentuate the theme of censorship. The general concept is “you don’t matter!” The font font I am using is Telegrafico. I chose this font because of it’s large counter and sharp edges which give the font a stern and rigid feel.
