These pages were rough-printed on my ailing Epson. The final copies will be print-on-demand with a letterpress-printed dust jacket.

EDIT: Well I'm sure glad I posted this page, because we found an error! The fifth paragraph of dialogue on page 49 needs to be split because there's a new speaker. Of course this totally messes up the nice page break. The agonies of the compositor!

The dust jackets were printed on Moab Entrada Rag Bright 190, which comes in 13- by 19-inch sheets. I printed the background borderless on an Epson Stylus Photo R3000, so I only had to trim one side.

I had 11-point magnesium plates made to mount to a honeycomb base. I need instruction in this method! I couldn't get the toggles to work right, so I resorted to fortifying my form with adhesive sheets from Boxcar.

On December 26th, 2004, a few minutes after 12 o'clock noon, a tsunami struck Phuket, Thailand. This tsunami was generated by an Indian Ocean earthquake of a magnitude between 9.1 and 9.3 on the west coast of Sumatra. It killed over 230,000 people in fourteen countries.

These are the images of the tsunami arriving in Phuket on a section of Bang Tao beach. Many of the images appearing in this book have been published as front pages or double layouts in the major international newspapers and magazines.

"Design Benign" was my senior thesis project. I studied the role of cuteness in contemporary product design, what cuteness is exactly comprised of, and how cuteness can be beneficial to design.

Design Benign is an ongoing research project about the role of cuteness in product design. You can read excerpts from it, as well as new material, at design-benign.blogspot.com

In our last illustrationsemester at the FHTW we three made different interpretations of the fragmentic text “Als ich Abends nach Hause kam”(When I came home in the evening) by Franz Kafka. Everybody had to do exactely the same size, but the style of interpretation was absolutely free.

This is a book design and execution that I created for Susan Kozel's book Closer published by the MIT press.

It was an assignment in a UCLA Design | Media Arts Class. The front portion of the book is comprised of all the text and images, clearly setup into a four row system, which aligns to the four flipbooks at the very back of the book.
