Today is Flickr's 21st birthday! Today's theme is *BOLD*
Here is my lava lamp - which is used to bring me a moment of joy, and provide a bit of lighting when I eat dinner.
Did you know that lava lamps are used to generate random numbers? Cloudflare has a whole wall full of them, and cameras are used to get all sorts of measurements which are then used to create the random numbers that keep us all safe online.
The whole process is called 'Lavarand' and you can read about it, here:

Bold Colliery locomotive shed on a grim 23 March 1977. Two steam locomotives were present at that time, both Hunslet 0.6.0ST Austerities. Outside, behind the Grafton crane was ALISON, 3163/44, rebuilt later as 3885/64 whilst inside the shed was WHISTON, 3694/50. Both were subsequently preserved. The working engine here was a diesel, North British 0.4.0DH 27735/58.
Bold Colliery, just north of St Helens Junction station, closed in 1985.

Black Swallowtail Butterfly 3 1/8 - 4 1/2 inches. The most widespread swallowtail. Flies in open areas, including vacant lots, neglected areas, and gardens. Nectars on butterfly milkweed, thistles and red clover.
This little hummingbird was gaurding her little branch and everythiing else in the vicinity. No other hummers had a chance at the feeder that was nearby.
*Here are more of the hummingbird shots I warned were coming. I want to post as many as possible before they leave.

Finally back from the trip and what a fantastic six days it has been. 30 miles of bushwhacking while carrying roughly 55 lbs worth of gear up and down the Bold Coast of #Maine couldn't have been any more #fun!
Jared, Mike, Aaron, Garrett, I couldn't have asked for a better group of people to be out there with!
Another trip soon again.

15.5×32 inch letterpress / woodcut combo. The piece is bigger than the Vandercook I was working on, so I had to do it in two runs… the whole process involved way more math than any art kid should have to deal with…

Bold Street is a prestigious street located in the heart of Liverpool city centre. The street is famously known for having the most independent small and large businesses.
EVERY CITY HAS A STREET THAT MANAGES TO EMBODY THE SPIRIT OF A WHOLE CITY IN ONE STRETCH. LONDON MIGHT HAVE BRICK LANE, MANCHESTER MAY HAVE CANAL STREET BUT LIVERPOOL HAS BOLD STREET. A TIME CAPSULE OOZING OUT OUR VERY OWN UTOPIA.
This bold jumping spider was on a chair but quickly jumped to this log. I was appreciative. It made for a better setting. :)
Esta araña saltarina descarada estaba en una silla, pero de pronto se arrojó a este tronco viejo, por lo cual, estaba agradecido. Sirvió como mejor entorno.
Photographed in the back yard, not at the Spider Pavilion. These spiders are amazing; they jump with what appears to be incredible accuracy. In this shot, he's on the bottom of a bird feeder. These spiders have the most vibrant colors: blue chelicerae, and orange spot on the back and iridescent hairs...overall a very attractive spider.
The one below is more natural looking, but the spider is less detailed. I wanted to catch it and make it a "pet", but he was too fast for me. There are loads of young jumping spiders now, so this won't be the last one. This spider is about 1 cm in length, not yet fully grown.
