I was mowing a hill in my yard with my walking mower when I fortunately spotted this fellow sitting dead ahead of me. I inched forward and he didn't move , so I went around him. When I returned a few minutes later he was still standing his ground. This time I nudged him with the mower...nothing. I bent down to look closer and saw he was breathing and looked quite healthy. I tapped his nose with my finger...he wasn't moving. His little kingdom went unmowed.
Monday, 01 April 2024: Alaska Railroad Corporation (ARRC) Fairbanks Yard Job heads Railroad North past MP-G20 crossing over the Chena River and Lakes Flood Control Project better known as the Chena Flood plains. It was a beautiful Alaskan day as the pair of GP38-2’s still in “Alaska Bold” paint power the 20 loads North towards Eielson Air Force Base on the ARRC’s Eielson Branch. Eielson is home to the newly renamed 18 Fighter Intercept Squadron (FIS) and holds the title as the US Air Force’s only FIS, a name that hasn’t been used since the end of the Cold War. Over the past year it has been increasingly common for the 18th’s Russian painted F-16’s to be scrambled to intercept Russian aircraft approaching Alaskan airspace as they have been filling in for the Anchorage based F-22’s. In addition to the 18th Aggressor Squadron being renamed to the 18th FIS the 354th Aircraft Maintenance Unit was renamed to the 18th Fighter Generation Squadron. This was to link their mission of providing aerospace control for the homeland defense per Eielson’s website and a “The War Zone” Article. On the ground however 2007 and 2004 are hard at work for their third owner first being built for the Pen Central before going to Conrail and finally the ARRC in the mid 1980’s.

Hero shot of Captain Kayden Robert Knight - my sig-fig - with what I think is a pretty fitting line from the one and only Star Trek.
I had a quick bout of creativity and wanted to whip this together. I didn't have my Mark III handy so had to resort to my old Rebel. But as many of you know when creativity strikes, take advantage of it!
Brest - France.
EXPLORE #105 Mio Cade was right ... shot indoors by my patio window overlooking the conservation land where some of my other shots have come from. I will sure miss this house .. the sign is on the lawn, I've been given an MLS number and we're good to go, except there's more to be done in the house. Agents open house Tuesday.
