the next photos are taken on March in Bucharest, before I started my flickr account...I decided to put them here at the end of the year - not to just lay in my computer. I liked the city very much.

hard to believe, but today's my 3-year flickr anniversary.

thanks for continuing to make it worth my while!

OPENING DAY OF THE 2ND INTERNATIONAL RELIGIOUS FREEDOM CONFERENCE.

With the blessings of His Eminence Archbishop Demetrios of America, the Archons of the Ecumenical Patriarchate invite you to attend and witness the Archon Second International Conference on Religious Freedom: "Tearing Down Walls: Achieving Religious Equality in Turkey." It will take place in Berlin, Germany, December 4 and 5, 2013. This upcoming conference promises to be an extraordinary, historic and watershed event, just as the first Archon International Conference on Religious Freedom was in November 2010 at the European Parliament in Brussels, Belgium.

Once again, politicians, diplomats, human rights lawyers and advocates, scholars, religious leaders, journalists and members of minority communities will come together to see how the walls of intolerance and misunderstanding can come tumbling down, and a new future for all people of goodwill can begin.

The conference is being organized and hosted by the Order of Saint Andrew the Apostle, Archons of the Ecumenical Patriarchate in America in cooperation with the Patriarchal Liaison Office of the Orthodox Church to the European Union. The coordination of the local political and church partners is undertaken by the Greek Orthodox Metropolitanate of Germany with the blessings of His Eminence Metropolitan Augoustinos.

Animals are an important member of many families, and at St. Margaret’s, we want to acknowledge them and bring them into a part of our worship. At our church we have blessings of the animals where we invite everyone to bring their pets to our church to be blessed which can include dogs, cats, birds, reptiles, horses, and more. Also, for a fun gathering activity with members of our church, we have organized nature walks where our animal members are also welcome to join in the celebration. Everyone is welcome in our congregation, so please feel free to stop by and check us out, we would love to meet you!

Blessing of the foundations of a new six floor apartment building in Chiang Mai Thailand by Brahmin priest. Buddhism exists side-by-side with, and to some extent intermingles with, pre-Buddhist animism and Brahman practices. Most Thais, whether or not they profess to be Buddhists, believe in a rich supernatural world. When ill, or at other times of crisis, or to seek supernatural help, Thais may enlist the aid of a practitioner who is believed to be able to propitiate or obtain help from various spirits. Local spirits are believed to inhabit a variety of objects, and shrines to them may be found in houses, businesses in Buddhist temples, along roads, and in forests. Blessing ceremonies to ward off evil spirits and bad luck are carried out both by Buddhist monks and Brahmins.

Joseph and Blessing in Bonn, Germany. I spent several days at their house, since we were all newcomers to Bonn. They are very special to me still. This is from 2001. I worked with Joseph at United Nations Volunteers, on both the Online Volunteering Service and the United Nations Information Technology Service (UNITeS).

I was given a shawl and sandlewood, which is a great honor. Here I am praying a blessing on one of the men of the city on my last night in Ramanathapuram.
