The blessing goes like this... place a coin on top of the couples hands which together hold a coconut over a bowl. Then, you pour three splashes of coconut milk onto the coin and over their hands, and then you throw rice on each of their heads.
The rituals of accepting holly water blessing:
1. Accept with open arms - the elder will sprinkle holly water on your head 3 times.
2. Drinking the holly water - accept the sprinkle of holly water on your left hand with both hands, 3 times as well.
3. Wet your forehard and neck with holly water and pick up few grains of rice from the holly water tray and stick them between your eyebrow and on your neck, somewhere in between your collar bone.

This girl was a total blessing to me this weekend! My family received some pretty bad news, my aunt was diagnosed with leukemia on Saturday... I've found some peace going out and taking photos of this beauty! I know there was no eating of Vi knowing this, but she honestly could not have come at a more perfect time....she truly was a blessing and I am so grateful for Vi...huge hugs to you my new friend <3

Most Thais, whether or not they profess to be Buddhists, believe in a rich supernatural world. When ill, or at other times of crisis, or to seek supernatural help, Thais may enlist the aid of a practitioner who is believed to be able to propitiate or obtain help from various spirits. Local spirits are believed to inhabit a variety of objects, and shrines to them may be found in houses, businesses in Buddhist temples, along roads, and in forests. Blessing ceremonies to ward off evil spirits and bad luck are carried out both by Buddhist monks and Brahmins.

I stamped the damask with Versamark ink and then heat embossed with white embossing powder. Then I rubbed brown stamping ink over the whole card. A slightly damp paper towel will take most of the brown ink off of the embossed image. If you painted the background instead of using stamping ink, you could obtain a much softer feel. I just thought I'd try this for a warm, fall card.
In the first years of the 20th century, Jonathan Pierce filed a deed with the Galveston, Harrisburg & San Antonio Railroad (Southern Pacific) to lay out a town along the rail line at the junction of two major roads. He named the community Blessing, and a second rail company soon built additional tracks through town.
In 1912, concerned about the educational and cultural needs of the community, local women established the Blessing Library Association. Edna Woodruff served as the group's first president. Two years later, the association joined the Texas Federation of Women's Clubs, assisting in the organization of the Matagorda County Federation of Women's Clubs in 1916.
In 1917, prominent rancher and businessman A.B. Pierce, son of the town founder, donated a former ranch building that had also served as an office and bank. The association converted it to library facilities. Under the direction of Pierce's wife, Adelaide, who also served as president of the county federation, the association funded construction of a community house in 1921. It became a social and cultural center for the town, and was the scene of dances, movies, vaudeville performances, plays, graduations, concerts, immunization programs and many important activities.
​ In the 1950s, the association reorganized as a non-profit charitable corporation, thus ending its longtime partnership with the women's club. The new group continued to offer the community house for events, meetings and services. In 1991, the facilities transferred to Matagorda County, which maintains the property as a social and activity center for Blessing-area residents. (2005) (Marker No. 13257)
