My family has been such a blessing to me. I was remembering my grandparents today and composed this photo in honor of them. My grandmother loved to cook and bake. In the background is her cookie jar. The cook books are hers complete with notes that she jotted down on the recipes. My grandfather was a strawberry farmer. He wore straw hats while he worked and they always smelled of citronella. He had an elephant collection and this bank was his. He also loved to read and gave me books that I loved. A Girl of the Limberlost is just one. Together they had an antique store. The figurine of the girl cooking was one that my grandma gave to me.

Lastly, I've included a pin that was given out at a family reunion when I was a child. It shows the changes made to the family name since our ancestors came to America from Holland.

I have been having fun at trying out still life photography. Very challenging. This one I especially enjoyed since it brought back fond memories of people that loved me and influenced me in so many ways.

These small miracles on a gloomy raining day, a little raindrop hanging there...like they embrace eachother...enjoying their time while it last. I know...it sounds a little philosophic but I guess that's the effect of gloomy rainy days...

I appreciate all of your comments. Thanks for viewing my photos.

Blessing of the Animals ceremony at Guardian Angels Church.

Click here for more details about the event.

The Orthodox Churches perform the Great Blessing of Waters on Theophany.[56] The blessing is normally done twice: once on the Eve of the Feast—usually at a Baptismal font inside the church—and then again on the day of the feast, outdoors at a body of water. Following the Divine Liturgy, the clergy and people go in a Crucession (procession with the cross) to the nearest body of water, be it a beach, harbor, quay, river, lake, swimming pool, water depot, etc. (ideally, it should be a body of "living water"). At the end of the ceremony the priest will bless the waters. In the Greek practice, he does this by casting a cross into the water. If swimming is feasible on the spot, any number of volunteers may try to recover the cross. The person who gets the cross first swims back and returns it to the priest, who then delivers a special blessing to the swimmer and their household.

I am always fascinated by what happens in this hair salon specifically to cope with African hair. As I played with the image and bent its light I discovered this wonderful poster inside and more posters on the right. A client is waiting on the chair and the white figure bottom left is a young boy hanging up a towel on a rack on the pavement.

An old photo that I pulled from my archived back in Jan 2009. Taken with a point and shoot camera. Not the best quality, but oh what the heck

* Blessing the Heights *

First off, Merry Christmas to all of you folks and Happy Holiday Season!!!

As it was an overcast day, I was just waiting and waiting since 2 hours at the same spot. It was also very foggy that day and I was hoping for some sun to shine through and take the fogginess away. Demoralized by the flop show of the light that evening I was packing up my gear, when this scene unfolded... The ethereal light, as if, shining from the realm of the Gods lighted up the landscape just for a few minutes. It seemed like that the Ethereal Light was blessing the heights... I quickly shot up a series of exposures to be sure.

Well, now I would say, it ended up well...

I hope you would love it too...

Blessing

"Let's not say another word, we don't need to question why.

Let us pass through this moment like a candle in the night.

We don't need to wave it back.

This is not the final song.

Even though in the sadness tears may fall.

Take my smile, hold it in your heart forever.

And I will be with you wherever you may go.

How much pain must we taste.

How much sorrow must we know.

Will be only nothing losing.

How to cherish when we go.

How agony is like the wind we can hold it in our hands.

In the light of a new day we will understand.

May the love rise to lead you on your way.

May the sun always shines upon you face.

And until the journey brings us back together.

May God holds you in the center of His hands.

May God holds you in the center of His hands."

God bless my special people with happiness, laughter and hopefulness like my prayer which I spend time in everyday when I'm not with them . 'Cause their existing is a happiest thing of my life...

Our lives are built around the actions of our day

some days storms are looming that seem to get in our way

some are filled with sunshine against a sky of blue

... when our dream clouds float away from us before coming true

when a field of ready harvest feels like agony and pain

instead of a land of opportunity ripe with bountiful grain

to make our days become wonderful memories to behold

it will take a positive response...let the hidden beauty slowly unfold

when something feels a burden...reevaluate its worth

encounter...react...believe... give opportunity its birth

turn each little bump in the road that seem to cloud our eyes

recognize each and every one for what it is.. a blessing in disguise

below - from my dear Canadian froggy friend Art,

~ Celebrated primarily in the USA & Canada. Originally, it was a time to give thanks for a bountiful harvest.

~ In the USA, it falls on the 4th Thursday of November, this year on November 25, 2010.

~ In Canada, it falls on the 2nd Monday of October.

~ Commonly believe that the first Thanksgiving happened in 1621, at Plymouth Plantation, MA.

~ There is strong evidence for earlier celebrations in Canada in 1578 and by Spanish explorers in Florida in 1565.

~ It is also celebrated in Leiden, Netherlands and at a similar time of year, in Grenada.

thanks Art, that made it so much easier,

especially after slaving in the kitchen - baking thanksgiving chocolate deserts.

really a labour of love ♥

charlene licked the beaters from the chocogazm cake

luke got the ones from the best fudge brownies ever recipe.

I do think harvest time is a better time for T'day celebrating,

but heck, let's celebrate Thanksgiving every single day,

eh?

Other than darkening the color a hair in picnic, this is SOOC. This is another one that you could crop and process but I like the original. I did however crop up the spider (posted below) so you could see him. WOW...I have never seen anything like him before...his colors were well blended in and if I hadn't had stopped at that particular wild flower well...I wouldn't have been able to show him to you.

When you least expect it...a wonder will appear~

Have a great Wednesday!!

Do you find that often times through your day you miss the blessings because you're so focused on what you don't have...or the busyness of life...the mess around you...the mood you're in...the mood your kids are in...projects unfinished...etc. Life feels overwhelming and our focus is blurred and we miss the little things...which can be big things...the blessings go unnoticed. Would our lives change if we lived our days, our moments in gratitude for what we have been given?

I still get bogged down when things aren't going right or my kids are struggling or my marriage isn't what I want it to be but I'm learning to look beyond that to what is right, to the blessings in the midst of the turmoil and to be grateful...because being grateful changes you...

January, 2010 - Pattaya, Thailand - A bar girl prays for a night full of rich, naive farang who will provide her with money to send back to her family in Isan. Most of Pattaya's hordes of bar girls hail from Isan. Most Thai establishments, especially those outside of the majority-muslim south abide by Feng shui. This means that most places have a small or even a large altar inside or just outside of their bar, store or house. The bigger the better. Buddhism almost seems to me to be a competition between temples over who has the biggest Buddha.

A garden is a delight to the eye and a solace for the soul - Saadi

During Marriage, it seems like the doors of Heaven open and Allah Almighty sends his ultimate blessings on the both families.

Spring Blessing

Third Installment from the "Four Seasons" Buddhist series

18x18x1 giclee on canvas

Created from original photographs taken in Hawaii. "Spring Blessing" features the abhaya gesture or mudra. This gesture is also called "Gesture of Fearlessness" or "blessing" or "fearless mudra". You can find abhayamudrâ sometimes also as a left-hand gesture. It is most commonly seen with the hand outstretched in front of the buddha.

It's an awesome place to photograph, and definitely a spot that i will post images from o a regular basis.

Thanks to everyone that comments on my work, i appreciate all the feedback very much.

Since being on Flickr i have found some truly inspiring photographers to follow, the work here is brilliant. :-)

Blessings are things you do not have to ask for. You already have them. All you have to do is look around you and count them.
