Something about the look from this Red-crested Turaco made me think of a Southern woman looking at me with soft sympathy, as if to say, "Bless your heart."
Every visit I have undertaken to the Brevard Zoo over the past 15 years or so, has impressed me by the breadth of their collection. Birds, reptiles, mammals from all over the world, in a relatively small regional zoo, which is very accessible and well maintained. If you find yourself on the Space Coast of Florida, I think it's worth a visit.

URBAN and RURAL bird, extremely vocal, and a proficient mimic , it forms sizable flocks out-side breeding season, The starling walks with a characteristic swagger, and a joy to see .

SMALL dumpy wader that is associated with coastal habitats. Feeds by running along sand, gravel or estuarine mud as if powered by clockwork and then standing still for a second, to pick up food from the ground. Seen from the sea wall Reculvers, where their was a flock of about 20.

A FAMILIAR and unmistakable black and white, long tailed bird, the Juvenile has more black plumage, with the head feathers still to mature. at close range a bluish-green sheen can be seen on the wings and tail. A opporttunistic omnivore, its diet includes fruit from our fig tree, insects, animal road kills and the eggs and young of birds, it will also happily scavenge discarded leftover foods scraps. Widespread resident all year round.

I’d been meaning to pay a visit to the beach at West Wittering in Sussex for some time. I’ve seen lots of beautiful images of subtle patterns in the sand and gentle pastel colours in those big skies. The weather had other ideas for my visit though and it was proper blowy. As one door closes, another one opens. Photography was a little tricky and I also had to contend with sand storms and bright sunlight (EM121326)
A well marked and distinctive warbler, the sexes are dissimilar with the male with a black cap, and the female seen above with a chestnut cap, note also the pale eye ring. ONE of the few birds where I think the female is better looking than the male.
Seen at Strumpshaw Fen, my sincere thanks to the T.V personaltity, Naturalist Photographer, Elizabeth Dack, for all her help. This was a long weekend with family, on the Norfolk Broads, but had to slip away with my camera early, hope I was not missed....lol.

DISTINCTIVE ROLLER with long tail-streamers, very thickset. Most numerous near damp ground or watercourses, usually in pairs, and highly vocal, breeds in a tree cavity, and we have witnessed in the top of dead oil palms. Always a joy to find, even though these were not so cooperative this year. Seen at the golf course at Kotu Gambia.

Le géranium Herbe à Robert a la propriété d’être vulnéraire, c’est-à-dire qu’il soigne les petites plaies. Toujours utile lorsqu’on se blesse légèrement dans son jardin.
Ses feuilles riches en tanin sont aussi astringentes, elles calment le feu temporairement des aphtes dans la bouche.
Ses feuilles froissées éloignent les moustiques.

Garden flower
Robert's Herb geranium has the ability to heal small wounds. It's always useful when you have a minor injury in the garden.
Its tannin-rich leaves are also astringent, temporarily soothing mouth ulcers.
Crumpled leaves keep mosquitoes away.
..with heartfelt sympathy and love ~ they show what immense effort, teamwork and love can do..

l didn't know it at the time...but the couple you can see ahead took half an hour to get to were l was standing through the ankle deep mud...Generally it would take 3 minutes to get to me from where they were...when they arrived l was astounded to see they were both around 85 years old if a day, and were holding each other hands...Bless...we chatted for a while and they went on their merry way through the woods which was in an even muddier state than from whence they'd come, l gave them a 10 minute start and l followed them just incase one of them took a flyer and they needed help. Bless

Jesus came to bring spiritual LIFE to the spiritually dead and set the captives FREE! FREE from RELIGION, ERROR and outright LIES, so WE might serve THE LIVING GOD! In SPIRIT and in TRUTH!
So you'll KNOW, and not think you're to bad for God to love. The Christian LIFE isn't about how good WE are, because NONE of us are! It's about how GOOD JESUS IS! Because JESUS LOVES US, so much he died in our place and took the punishment for all of our sins on himself. The wages of sin is DEATH, and Jesus took the death WE so richly deserved for us and died in our place. The good news is, there's no more punishment for sin left. WE, you and I were all born forgive as a result of the crucifixion of God himself on the cross that took away the sins of the whole world. All we have to do is believe it, and put your Faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ. That my friends is REAL UNCONDITIONAL LOVE! YOU ARE LOVED. ❤️ ✝️ ❤️

Les Deux Frères face au Cap Sicié - Les Deux Frères sont deux rochers émergeant à la pointe du Cap Sicié (Var, France) et visibles depuis la plage des Sablettes à La Seyne-sur-Mer. C'est un lieu qui accueille de nombreux plaisanciers ainsi que des clubs de plongée dont l'objectif est la visite d'une épave située à proximité immédiate.
La légende locale raconte que deux frères trouvèrent un soir une sirène blessée sur la plage. Ils la soignèrent et tombèrent éperdument amoureux et dans leur folie, ils s’entre-tuèrent. La sirène, avant de regagner les flots, supplia Poséidon de leur laisser une forme apparente en souvenir de leur passion. Le dieu de la mer y dressa les deux rocs.
Le mythe des Deux Frères a donné lieu à d’autres interprétations. L’une d’entre elles, parle de deux frères pêcheurs inséparables, jusqu’à ce qu’une sirène ne séduise le plus jeune des deux et l’attire au fond de l’eau. L’aîné, tentant de le sauver, trouva lui aussi la mort ne pouvant résister au charme de la créature marine. Pendant son agonie, il supplia Apollon (pourquoi Apollon ?) de leur laisser la vie sauve et de les rendre à jamais inséparables. C’est ainsi qu’ils se virent transformés en deux roches jumelles au large du Cap Sicié.
La légende raconte aussi qu’une pieuvre géante dévore les visiteurs imprudents ! Dans les années 60, il se disait même que les autorités avaient érigé un grillage autour de l’îlot afin d’éviter la mort aux plongeurs trop curieux.
Les deux Frères (The Two Brothers) facing Cap Sicié - The Two Brothers are two rocks emerging at the tip of Cap Sicié (Var, France) and visible from the Sablettes beach in La Seyne-sur-Mer. It is a place that welcomes many boaters as well as diving clubs whose objective is to visit a wreck located in the immediate vicinity.
The myth of “Les Deux Frères” has given rise to various interpretations. One of them speaks of two fishermen brothers who were inseparable until a mermaid seduced the youngest and lured him down into the depths of the sea. In an attempt to save him, his elder was also dragged to his death, unable to resist the charm of the sea creature. During his agonising final minutes, he begged the god Apollo to save them and ensure they were forever together. And that is how they came to be transformed into two rocks located offshore of Cape Sicié.
The second myth evokes an injured mermaid washed up on the beach, whom the two sailors tried to save. But as misfortune would have it, they both fell madly in love with her and fought to the death. When the mermaid swam back out to sea, she begged Poseidon to bless them with a visible and immutable form in memory of their shared passion. The god of seas and oceans answered her wish by transforming the two unfortunate sailors into two rocks.
Legend tells also that a giant octopus devours careless visitors… In the Sixties, it was even said that the authorities erected a fence around the little island to avoid overly-curious divers meeting their demise.
