This was taken in Feltham Middlesex 1950 I think, I'm with my uncle Bill, we are pointing a an aeroplane , (being near Heathrow airport) . My cousin Barbara is standing next to my Nan ( Bill's mum)
The remote village of Miyamachou North of Tokyo features some wonderful example of old Japan country side living.
A bit of a different hinting technique and I never caught the move. What looks like the edge of the water on the bank of the bayou is actually a drifting mass of water hyacinth that has set up it own tiny ecosystem on the bayou. This mass is being blown over the surface of the water by the wind. This Tri-colored Heron had set up station on the edge of the drift mass and would fly off over the water and attempt to snag fish while he was in flight. Not sure what type of weed is growing on the edge of the hyacinth, but it has also become a part of the drifting mass. They hyacinth in the background is a separate mass.
Also want to update everyone on tropical storm Imelda. The storm was expected to drift northward yesterday, but tropical storms always have a mind of their own. Instead of the storms drifting northward the flow has been a bit more to the southeast and is dumping huge amounts of waters on Houston. The flooding has begun, and we can only hope that it will be minimal, but that doesn’t ever seem to be the case around. I am high and dry, but a lot of residents are not that fortunate. I know that there is also flooding going on from Houston to Beaumont.

This little brook is down from its highest melt levels and it looks as if the normal height is lower still.
Looking a bit serious in this one, think its because the camera was playing up and I didn't know if the timer was on two shots or not.
Bit disappoint yet happy too because this jacket is now too big (yay) but I like it so I am slightly miffed :-(
Oh well I could always get it altered.
This outfit has made me remember that this look actually works for me and that I should wear clothes like this more often.
I will be boring you with this set but I will break it up a little and post some other pics in between.

A bit of a treat for the train nerds today.
While DXR 8007 in its original form was a frequent visitor to Dunedin for a while in the late 90s, the rebuilt (and rebuilt!) DXRs have never led trains too far below Christchurch/Rolleston that I'm aware of. They have ventured to Hillside for bogie changes before, but as you can't escape out the front windows in an emergency, they are banned from leading through long tunnels like the Mihiwaka.
Sure, in this incarnation the pair of DXRs are hardly going to win any beauty contests, but hey, its something different. So with a hint, a little help from some friends and favourable logistics being dealt, DXR 8022 put on a show for the assembled, running what might turn out to be its only train ever down here, leading from Waitati northwards.
While the Train Gods kindly supplied a reasonable length triple, the Weather Gods were in a fickle mood, throwing spring storms around for most of the afternoon.

Good morning, I took this one last night because i got the dress the Friday from a charity shop, It an old Hell Bunny dress and a large so should be a UK14 think again sherlock seems they used to be a little different few years back. its closer a 12 in all truth all be it a large 12. I can just about squeeze into it. I know i have put a bit of chunk on but other HB dresses that are the same size fit better.
Off out this morning i think for the first time since my accident . when i say out i mean a proper punt around the shops. Just hope my trotter stands upto the walking.
It was a bit windy but otherwise a nice day for a walk on a country road and to capture a shot of a picturesque nearby ranch.
The temperature is 19 degrees and the wind chill is making it feel like 5 as Metro-North train #62 is leaving its Salisbury Mills/Cornwall station stop at 12:28PM. After crossing over Moodna Viaduct the train will once again be up to track speed. Schunnemunk Mountain is seen on the right on the far side of the trestle and is the highest peak in Orange County N.Y. with its summit at 1,664 ft. located in the Town of Blooming Grove. Large poured concrete retaining walls can be seen in front of the train on the far side of Moodna Viaduct in this area to prevent slides. Train 62 is being pushed by GP40PH-2B 4207 that started life in 10-1965 as New York Central GP40 3005.The train is due in to Hoboken NJ at 2:13pm. Howard Kent Jr.

This lens is very fine in the darkroom for printing, but the Bokeh is not good at all – much better with the 80 mm Rodenstock and 150 mm Componon S – see next pictures.

Gone for a colour change in the hallway and i think it might be a tad blue and will clash with so much of what i wear. Maybe thats why they did it lol
I went out yesterday to pick up some bits and word this dress that iv'e decided has to go as its a bit big and not long enough or full enough in the skirt. I never really got on with it so say goodbye to the dress.
At this point i still hadn't decided if i was going to the dance or not as i didn't wan't to be a spare part if know what i mean.
Today it was a bit cloudy in Langkawi. Perfect for going to the sky bridge and the viewing platform which is located 700 above sea level; you go there with a cable car. If you want to see more of Langkawi, come over to my blog and checkout the full post here.

A bit of a catch-up - I've been editing music festival photos and still have over half a day to go yet!
Birds on the feeder this morning - a 'just in case' I didn't catch anything else today and so far, nope.

Vessels with a freeboard (the distance from waterline to main deck) of more that 9m must rig what is called a combination rig. It makes it a little easier at times to climb the side of the vessel.
Time for a bit of a rant ...
Bernera Barracks in Glenelg was designated as a Category ‘A’ Listed Building in 1958, and as a Scheduled Ancient Monument in 1971.
The barracks were built by the Hanoverian Government after the Jacobite Rising of 1715, one of only four such barracks built in Scotland “to forestall a future uprising, maintain law and order locally, and enforce the Disarming Act of 1716 “. Two have been ‘lost’ as they were incorporated into other buildings over the years (small parts of one are visible in a farm building, the other in a hotel), and one of the others, at Ruthven , is in the care of Historic Scotland. So what about Bernera Barracks?
As you can see from these photos it has fallen into a ruinous state, is now too dangerous for people to be allowed to visit, surrounded by a fence decorated with “Danger – Keep Out” signs. It made me wonder why …
Initial searching led me to discover that the buildings are privately-owned, and it seemed that the owner had allowed them to fall into this parlous state – there were some rather epithet-laden rants aimed at this individual from people like me who have an interest in seeing historically important buildings like this preserved for future generations. It also became apparent that there had been an “Improvement Notice” served on the owner which had not been carried out.
However, digging deeper things became more complicated. The Improvement Notice had in fact been served, but on a large estate, a previous owner of the building, many years ago. The current owner is a local crofter who bought his small 40 acre farm under the Crofting Reform Act, which allowed him to buy his land from his landlord. He was not aware that this also included responsibility for maintaining the Barracks and that he would have responsibility for carrying out the Improvement Notice (which he was not informed of) when he bought the land. Obviously the hundreds of thousands of pounds which would be needed just to stabilise the buildings are well beyond the economic reach of a crofter. He is obviously not allowed to demolish the structure, but as he says:
“If anybody touched anything, there’s a good chance it would come clattering down around their heads [...] Now that I’ve got it, the ownership of it doesn’t interest me. If any other body wants it they can have it – it is a national monument, it should be owned by the nation.”
So what about these other ‘bodies’ who could take over the restoration and the upkeep of the Barracks? It seems that none of them is willing to take it over. The Highland Region would be one source of funds, but they said:
“Our shortage of funds makes it impossible. We only have £17,000 this year for ALL the 2,500 listed buildings in the Highlands.”
The Historic Buildings Council could not help because they only deal with Listed Buildings. As Bernera Barracks is both Listed AND a Scheduled Monument, they would have nothing to do with it.
So what about the Ancient Monuments Department? They stated:
“A year ago the Highland Region wrote to the AMD. The department made it clear that it acknowledged the importance of the building but could not consider taking it into state care. The Secretary of State already has Ruthven Barracks which are of the same period and of equal importance, and so at present there is no possibility of him taking responsibility for Bernera Barracks.”
It astonishes and disgusts me that no Government body is willing to step in and take responsibility for such an historically significant building - remember that there were only four such barracks built, and that two have already disappeared.
The Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Scotland’s site record notes “Incorporating stones plundered from the Glenelg brochs, it remains an impressive sight today, even though its two harled blocks - twin-gabled and rising to three and a half storeys each side of a courtyard - are reduced to pierced rubble shells, Bernera incorporates some notable modifications to the standard design: the tenement-plan accommodation was doubled by building the five-bay blocks to a double-pile plan, each capable of accommodating two companies (120 men) in 12 almost square fire-lit rooms, each with five double beds […] Though modest, the degree of architectural refinement was greater here than at the other forts; the archway in the west wall was decorated, and the windows all have keystoned segmental-arches and smooth ashlar dressings.”
There have been plans as far back as the 1980s to save and develop the barracks, but none has ever come to anything. It remains an unloved and rapidly deteriorating shell of a building which would appear to have no future.
As the leader of the local council said:
“It is a monument nobody wants”.
A bit forgotten, sadly, it's been off the road since 1988 and has remained registered to its original owner as well apparently, so no doubt there is quite an attachment to it as it's been off the road longer than it was ever on it.... Stuff like this is always the most fascinating because it's not quite clear as to why the owner still has it.

I remember having a lot of difficulty finding a supplier that stocked this dress in my size. I eventually found one but was slightly disappointed when I realised (too late) the bust-line is a bit big and the dress keeps slipping down at the back. Very annoying!

About the image story, the photo of Ember-chan (pure_embers), "Time Can Be Cruel" inspired me to do this shot, so thank you so much sweetie! ♡ I think the Time is a interesting theme to work, because it's something extremely mysterious, at least for me ... I always feel nostalgic when I look to old clocks =)
This, is the Hermione's clock of Harry Potter. I bought some time ago, it was a Harry Potter Chess collection, and this clock came along! The words of the title are the sentences inscribed on it.

Sobre a historinha da imagem, me inspirei na foto da Ember-chan (pure_embers), "Time can be cruel", por isso muito obrigada! Acho que o tempo é um tema bem legal de trabalhar, porque ele é algo extremamente misterioso, pelo menos pra mim... eu sempre sinto uma nostalgia quando olho pra relógios antigos =)
Aí eu lembrei que tinha esse relógio, e é bem antiguinho até, vendia nas bancas... era tipo uma coleção do Harry Potter, tenho até umas peças de xadrez. Esse é o relógio da Hermione, e o título são as inscrições que estão no relógio, mas na foto não dá pra ver x.x
Enfim. As minhas aulas começaram semana passada já, por isso postei a última foto da flynn bem rapidinho.
É, acabou a mamata, provas semana que vem, seminários, trabalhos, esse segundo semestre vai ser corrido, mas tudo bem, tudo vai dar certo no fim (eu espero ;.;) x3
