Despite the need for restraint, this spot got me. After two frames to the right I just had to take a picture of the scene on the left too. The tree bent over the creek forming a gate has been my favorite for a long time and it looked very nice this morning, Even its reflection in the creek looked better with all of the snow around ... #etbtsy

As seasons roll through the park the color palette changes. In summer there are lush greens everywhere. And those combine really well with the park's ponds, especially when they are covered with ... #etbtsy
Continued on my blog:
This morning I heard unfamiliar birdsong coming from our Rowan tree. When I went out to investigate it turned out to be this Greenfinch. This delighted me because I haven't clapped eyes on a Greenfinch for a number of years now. They used to be very common hereabouts but I remember reading that they were being badly affected by disease so perhaps that accounts for their absence.(I should say at this point that I am not a birdwatcher as such. I don't go out on birdwatching expeditions but I have an interest in the birds I come across. Perhaps if I'd gone looking I might have seen some Greenfinches)
As I had grabbed my camera quickly I hadn't checked the settings and only when the bird flew off did I discover that the ISO was set at 2000. It's a testament to modern cameras how good high ISO performance is..
Finally, I hope to remember what a Greenfinch song sounds like by likening it to a birdie version of a machine gun!
Birdsong and Humming are enjoying their time sitting on a blanket of Bougainvillea petals with some animal friends. What a relaxing day they must have!
It is summer here again. And I love white dresses on my girls in the summer season. Humming is using her default wig and eyes here. I feel that she is the most "Humming" when she looks like this.
Well, because today (18th Jan) is Humming's birthday, so happy birthday to my dear girl. *^^*
I believe snotty cat asked me for a pic of Birdsong and Humming together. It is late but here it is. :)
Please view in large for non-sharpen image. ^^
Site about to be built on, goodbye tree's, birdsong and squirrel's.

So where are we going and what are we doing? The place is the beautiful Birdsong Park in Orchard Park, NY. It's a small park with several ponds, two of which fill up with water lilies in summer, surrounded by a picturesque old forrest. By now, I have ... #etbtsy

A very handy tower from where you can view a large area of this part of the park. The air was full of sound - mostly from the gibbons we had seen but also plenty of birdsong
A large and attractive mudskipper from the dense and dangerous mangroves of northern Australia. They live an amphibious lifestyle, creating burrows amongst the tidal mud of rivers and estuaries that are submerged at high tide. During low tides when the mudflats are exposed, the mudskippers emerge and feed on algae and detritus.
Mudskippers are able the breathe whilst out of the water through cutaneous respiration, where they are able to absorb oxygen through their skin and lining of their mouth whilst they are wet on the mud. They use their strong pectoral fins and specially designed 'shoulder joints' to help push themselves on land and can propel themselves with a quick tail-flip to avoid predators.
Silent Summer - a never-ending heat wave, devoid of birdsong, insect hum, and all the weird and wonderful living noises that subconsciously keep us company.

To complete today's admiration of woods we're going to finish at another local place that is very close to where I live and as such I have the luxury of visiting it often. Yes, I have photographed it many times and have some favorite and over-photographed scenes there but I like the challenge of finding more, of capturing things in different light, different seasons, different weather and so on. We started with leaning trees, let's wrap up with them too. ... #etbtsy

Nice Goldfinch nibbling away having it's lunch, on today's menu is .... sweet, crunchy Niger (Nyjer) seeds with a splash of Love.
Feed them .... they will come.
Love nature & it will love you
back .... in this particular case .... beautiful birdsong .... It's fantastic listening to them warbling high up in the trees, makes my garden come alive .... a garden without wildlife would indeed be a lonely place.
Love & Peace everyone 💕💖

Just a song a twilight, when the lights are low,
And the flick'ring shadows softly come and go.
Tho' the heart be weary, sad the day and long,
Still to us at twilight comes Love's old song

An Esker is a leftover from the Ice Age. It is a ridge of gravel formed by a river running under a glacier.
The Bluebells lined the bank for the whole length about 1/4 Mile and it was so beautiful. We had our sandwich sitting on a log on the side of the path , surrounded by flowers, trees and birdsong.
Another place we need a car to get to.Our last visit was 2019.

A small bird (identiy unknown), sings atop a leafless tree's branch.
Spring is in the air! The Robins were singing and the ducks were mating the other day when I visited Holmebrook Valley Park.

The trick was to show off the mystery of the fog without losing the image altogether. Long focal lengths intensify the low visibility so I explored different looks that way. Things also looked quite different front or back lit. And the fog itself kept rolling around the meadow becoming ... #etbtsy

Standing in the forest this morning with the sun on my face and the wind and birdsong in the tree tops I was reminded of the poem "The Blackbird Of Derrycairn" by Austin Clarke
Stop, stop and listen for the bough top
Is whistling and the sun is brighter
Than God's own shadow in the cup now!
Forget the hour-bell. Mournful matins
Will sound, Patric, as well at nightfall.
Faintly through mist of broken water
Fionn heard my melody in Norway.
He found the forest track, he brought back
This beak to gild the branch and tell, there,
Why men must welcome in the daylight.
He loved the breeze that warns the black grouse,
The shouts of gillies in the morning
When packs are counted and the swans cloud
Loch Erne, but more than all those voices
My throat rejoicing from the hawthorn.
In little cells behind a cashel,
Patric, no handbell gives a glad sound.
But knowledge is found among the branches.
Listen! That song that shakes my feathers
Will thong the leather of your satchels.

A view of a building with the name The Birdsong, and located in Red Oak II, a small village created (relocated) on the Fox Fire Farm of Lowell Davis. Lowell Davis is a reknown artist from southwest Missouri, who grew up in a small rural town of Red Oak, along Route 66. After many of the buildings in the original town of Red Oak were abandoned over the years, Mr. Davis decided to buy them up and relocate them to his own village of Red Oak II. This cool little building is intended to become a store for local artists and craftsmen to display and sell their works. Hope you all are having a great week! Keep warm!

This bird is a California Thrasher -- it had a great song. I could hear a bird singing and singing but couldn't figure out where it was, until I was smart enough to observe another photographer with a big lens pointed up in a tree -- he was at the very top.
This is one of the pics I'm going to enter in the Santa Cruz County Fair.
The girls landed a world away from Kayla’s underground shelter.
Birdsong filled the air. The girls sat beneath the canopy of a broad-limbed tree, its shade dappling the grass around them. Nearby, the river whispered—its waters burbling softly over stones.
Adrienne studied Kayla’s face. “You’re very pale.”
Kayla felt her neck, uncertain. “I think I’m okay. I thought I was finished. But something hit me in the tunnel. I felt... very ill. I had strange thoughts. Visions I didn’t recognize.”
Kayla gave a dry laugh. “You look much worse than me.”
“Pffft… I was only blown up. That’s all” Adrienne smiled, smoothing her hair with a shaky hand. “I think I’m starting to adjust to this new life.”
Kayla looked over, “How did you find me?”
“We tracked your VDD signal. I jumped to the last known location. When I landed, I heard you scream. Grabbed the pistol from my backpack and ran toward the sound.”
Kayla glanced around, absorbing the contrast to the tunnel’s oppressive gloom. “Where are we?”
Adrienne’s expression softened. “This my refuge, my shelter. I’ve come here since I was a child. We are far from anyone here.”
“It’s beautiful here,” Kayla murmured. Then her voice faltered. “But I saw you jump—with someone. I thought it was me. From... another time? Where is she?”
Adrienne hesitated. Her silence stretched. “She’s gone. It’s a long story. One you need to hear.”
As Adrienne started to recount the last few days, Kayla stopped her. “Wait. I already know this. I saw it all—in the tunnel, in the visions I had. I remember. They are real! The other Kayla you were with… we must be one again.”
Adrienne blinked, stunned. Relief flickered across her face.
Kayla sat up, gripping Adrienne’s arm. Her voice surged with urgency. “Adrienne, I know where the nest is. I’ve seen it. I was there.”
Then her excitement dimmed. “But the mission has failed. We’re out of time. The explosives are gone. The reptilians raided the shelter. Took everything. All the charges I was sent with... they were the last our people had.”
She looked away. “Even if I’d planted them, the nest is far more massive than imagined. I doubt it would’ve been enough.”
Silence settled again, heavy and unresolved.
Then Adrienne leaned forward, her eyes alight. “It's not over yet. I have an idea.”

Barefoot and disheveled,
Standing outside my window
In one of the fragile cotton dresses of the poor.
She will look in at me with her thin arms extended,
Offering a handful of birdsong and a small cup of light.
