I followed a hummingbird, vireo, and warbler that were going nuts...and I found this tiny Ferruginous Pygmy-Owl!
Check out this photo of a Cormorant at Wakodahatchee Wetlands! The bird just surfaced and you can see a uniform layer of water covering its feathers. Their glands secrete oil to help keep their feathers somewhat waterproof.

Today I share with you another photo of one of the small birds that usually hang around the woods near where I live: the Eurasian Blue Tit. Although it is one of the easiest species to see, it never ceases to amaze me with its bright colours. The blue and yellow stand out a lot and immediately catch the eye.
The curious thing is that, despite its size and friendly appearance, it is a rather territorial bird. When food is involved, it does not hesitate to show its temper and scare off other winged visitors.
Being able to observe them so closely is always an experience that leaves me wanting to return to the forest for more moments like this.

Today I share with you an image of one of my favourite birds, the European Crested Tit. The other day I was lucky enough to be able to photograph these charming little forest dwellers. Although they were slow to appear, they are a bit shy; in the end I was able to enjoy the privilege of watching them and capture some unique moments with the camera.
Among the forest birds I usually see in my environment, this species has always fascinated me. Because of that intense red eye and their peculiar punk-like crest, it gives them a unique personality that never fails to catch my attention.
Although I didn't photograph this species alone that day, they were certainly the most generous with their time in front of the lens. They love to pose, and when they come down to the perch, they stay much longer than other birds, as if they enjoy the limelight.

Por alguna razón que no tengo bien clara, a casi todos los pajareros que conozco nos gustan los fruteros. Debe ser porque, aunque no son raros, suelen ser difíciles de ver y de fotografiar.
Fue una dicha encontrar al Frutero Pechidorado en la Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta. Este no es de los más comunes y verlo no es sencillo. Este es un macho. La fotografía no es la mejor porque el ave estaba muy lejos, razón por la cual no tenía muchos pixeles para trabajar. Hice mi mejor esfuerzo en el revelado para tratar de no perder la única foto que pude hacerle a esta belleza de pajarito. Esta imagen no ganaría ningún concurso, pero sirve para que quienes no conocían este bicho, por lo menos, se hagan a una idea de cómo luce.

This hummingbird flew onto the branch of this tall Evergreen tree which stood just ourside the local garden area. He could easily spot where he wanted to go for nectar in the garden of flowers from this vantage point.
I am not sure if this was an Anna's Hummingbird, maybe a female or just a Rufus. But one can see a reddish breast here.
