Early in the morning, this lovely beauty sitting on top of the tree, appears to be enjoying the fresh sun light.

This red bellied woodpecker seemed to like staying in the canopy of the pine while watching the other birds in and out of the feeder. Or maybe he was just waiting for the right time to bomb the feeder for maximum effect.
Busy weekend, so will try to catch up on everyone's photostreams in the next day or so.

Some accidental motion shots from last week's RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch.
I love the patterns that wings in motion make. Just wish I'd actually planned to take them, as I think there should really be more synergy between the different images.
I'm still not sure if this should have been a collection of 3, rather than all 4, as there was one that was quite different to the others. Luckily, it's come out better than I was expecting. Seeing them like this, i think there's two I'd probably crop tighter if I had my time again. I would have needed to make that choice at the start, as the vignetting would look odd if I cropped now, plus there's elements of the wider shots I like in both cases. The editing mainly used the AntiquePlateII filter from SEfex, with recolour added back in AP when needed.

A break from skiing in the afternoon. Sat in the warming sun waiting for the "White-throated Dipper" to appear, and it didn't take long before they did. Hopefully some of the images turned out well and will be posted soon. Day 102/365
A number of individuals fought hard and long to preserve this wetlands area in Palo Alto, California.

The Palo Alto Baylands Nature Preserve, known officially as the Baylands Nature Preserve, is the largest tract of undisturbed marshland remaining in the San Francisco Bay. Fifteen miles of multi-use trails provide access to a unique mixture of tidal and fresh water habitats. The preserve encompasses 1,940 acres in both Palo Alto and East Palo Alto, and is owned by the city of Palo Alto, California, United States.[1] It is an important habitat for migratory shorebirds and is considered one of the best birdwatching spots on the West Coast.
