When I bought this first edition hardback copy at a local thrift shop it included two (recent/later) photos of the Manson/Tate Cielo Drive murder site, before and after the house was torn down.
Scary.

Various rooms and portraits inside Dr Johnson's House.
The building was bought by the MP Cecil Harmsworth in 1911. It was in a derelict state. He and Emile Harmsworth restored it, and it was open for the public in 1912. They places it into a Trust.
This is the library on the 2nd floor of Dr Johnson's House. In Johnson's day it was probably his bedroom.
It now stores copies of Johnson's dictionary and Boswell's Life of Johnson biography.

Mary Wells: The Tumultuous Life of Motown's First Superstar Hardcover – Nov 1 2012
Complete with never-before-revealed details about the sex, violence, and drugs in her life, this biography reveals the incredibly turbulent life of Motown artist Mary Wells. Based in part on four hours of previously unreleased and unpublicized deathbed interviews with Wells, this account delves deeply into her rapid rise and long fall as a recording artist, her spectacular romantic and family life, the violent incidents in which she was a participant, and her abuse of drugs. From tumultuous affairs, including one with R&B superstar Jackie Wilson, to a courageous battle with throat cancer that climaxed in her gutsiest performance, this history draws upon years of interviews with Wells’s friends, lovers, and husband to tell the whole story of a woman whose songs crossed the color line and whose voice captivated the Beatles.
Review
"In the end, Wells' story is the stuff of great art. Operas like "La Traviata" and "La Bohème" are centered on such characters; Edgar Allan Poe said that the death of a beautiful woman is the most poetical topic in the world. When you finish this book, you will mourn Mary Wells, sure, and be grateful for the music she left. But don't be surprised if you find that, like John, Paul, George and Ringo, you are more than a little in love with her as well."
-Wall Street Journal
"Peter Benjaminson pays tribute to the remarkable life of Mary Wells through a fascinating biography. His relentless research has resulted in not only a riveting tale of Wells's many personal battles but also a gripping snapshot of the music industry in which she worked. Motown's first superstar is given top-of-the-charts treatment in this terrific book." —Gerald Posner, author, Motown, Why America Slept, and Case Closed
"I thought I knew all there was to know about Mary Wells. I was wrong. Here, Peter Benjaminson tells Mary's story with great love and compassion in a way that informs even the so-called experts. I love Peter's work, and am happy to see Mary Wells finally be given the recognition she so deserves." —J. Randy Taraborrelli, author, Michael Jackson, After Camelot, and The Secret Life of Marilyn Monroe
"Peter Benjaminson does an admirable job with Mary Wells, presenting thoroughly researched scholarship, but always going back to reminding the reader of the soaring voice, and wide heart, of Motown's first superstar." —Charles R. Cross, author, Heavier than Heaven and Room Full of Mirrors
"Mary Wells has finally found 'My Guy'—and it is her biographer Peter Benjaminson. This is a match made in music heaven." —Al Abrams, author, Hype & Soul: Behind the Scenes at Motown
"Peter exposes the raw truth contained in never-before-released audio interviews with Mary as she lay on her deathbed. This fascinating story hits bookstores everywhere on November 1." — Sister 2 Sister magazine
"Benjaminson (The Lost Supreme) delivers another excellent and fascinating behind-the-scenes look at the artists who made Motown Records a massive success in the 1960s." — Publishers Weekly
"A fascinating narrative of the life of a popular music icon." —Library Journal

A full interview with the Israeli painter Raphael Perez (in Hebrew Rafi Peretz) about the ideas behind the naive painting, resume, personal biography and CV
Question: Raphael Perez Tell us about your work process as a naive painter?
Answer: I choose the most iconic and famous buildings in every city and town that are architecturally interesting and have a special shape and place the iconic buildings on boulevards full of trees, bushes, vegetation, flowers.
Question: How do you give depth in your naive paintings?
Answer: To give depth to the painting, I build the painting with layers of vegetation, after those low famous buildings, followed by a tall avenue of trees, and behind them towers and skyscrapers, in the sky I sometimes put innocent signs of balloons, kites.
A recurring motif in some of my paintings is the figure of the painter who is in the center of the boulevard and paints the entire scene unfolding in front of him, also there are two kindergarten teachers who are walking with the kindergarten children with the state flags that I paint, and loving couples hugging and kissing and family paintings of mother, father and child walking in harmony on the boulevard.
Question: Raphael Perez What characterizes your naive painting?
Answer: Most naive paintings have the same characteristics
(Definition as it appears in Wikipedia)
• Tells a simple story to absorb from everyday life, usually with humans.
• The representation of the painter's idealization to reality - the mapping of reality.
• Failure to maintain perspective - especially details even in distant details.
• Extensive use of repeating patterns - many details.
• Warm and bright colors.
• Sometimes the emphasis is on outlines.
• Most of the characters are flat, lack volume
• No interest in texture, expression, correct proportions
• No interest in anatomy.
• There is not much use of light and shadow, the colors create a three-dimensional effect.
I find these definitions to be valid for all my naive paintings

Biography:
I grew up in Oakland and currently work at Stanford where I do biomedical research. I have been taking pictures for over 10 years, mostly during my vacation trips. I love spending hours out in nature with my camera.
“Untitled 1” was taken in Zion National Park this fall. “Untitled 2 ” was taken late last year near Boquete, Panama, an area in the western highlands that is famous for its coffee beans. “Untitled 3” was taken in 2008 on Pismo State Beach in Southern California, while I was on a biking and camping trip spanning Santa Cruz to Huntington Beach.
The first two are representative of images I often try to capture. I am drawn to plants for their colors, and the challenge of constructing a purposefully unresolved balance of form, between order and disorder, that in nature is always an issue of scale and perspective. The third image was a beautiful scene like so many others that I encounter on my annual West Coast bike tours. I loved how preoccupied the kids were with finding things in the sand, displaying an innate curiosity about the natural world that reminded me of my childhood.
CCSF Photography and You:
I started photography like many, with a black and white, darkroom course. I later took a class in color printing, and while I liked it, I also found it incredibly challenging and realized I enjoyed the process of shooting much more than printing. After college I moved to San Francisco, where I worked in a research lab at the VA Medical Center. I had a lot more to learn about photography, and heard great things about CCSF Photography. I enrolled in a color transparency course during the 2005-2006 school year, where I found a dedicated teacher and a night meeting time that worked out perfectly with my full-time job.
I learned about how to properly shoot color slide film, as well as critical editing skills and more theory to boost my knowledge. My classmates came from all walks of life, the important thing was that we were all there for the same reason. I continued to shoot slide film—in fact, exclusively, through 2012. Last year I broke down and bought a digital, however, everything I learned in the color film course at CCSF is 100% applicable to shooting digital. I left San Francisco shortly after the course, but if I return to the city, I will look for the opportunity to take another class with CCSF Photography.

Born in India of Scottish parentage in 1923, Lindsay Anderson was one of the most important British film directors of the twentieth century. He began his career making documentary films in the 1950s and was one of the founders of the 'Free Cinema' movement which challenged the established cosy images of British cinema with gritty, realistic dramas and documentaries. Anderson made a string of acclaimed feature films in the 1960s and 1970s including This Sporting Life, staring Richard Harris and If…. starring Malcolm McDowell. He also had a long and distinguished career as a theatre director working with many of the most important figures of the British stage. In addition he was a respected writer and critic and one of the founders of the influential film journal Sequence in 1947. Anderson died in 1994, aged 71. His last film was the autobiographical documentary Is That All There Is? made for BBC Scotland in 1992.

Buckminster Fuller At Home in the Universe by Alden Hatch
Duke Henry II (Jasomirgott)
* ~ 1107 to † 13.1.1177
Biography
Heinrich was the eldest son of Margrave Leopold III and the Margravine Agnes and learned his "craft" on the Rhine as Count Palatine, while his slightly younger brother Leopold (IV) was the successor of the father. In the course of the clashes of the Staufer with the Welfs Leopold had become Duke of Bavaria in 1139, but died two years later. When Henry had to take over the Mark (border area) as well as the Duchy in the East, he initially dealt with a multitude of conflicts. A contemporary source calls him "strong, bold, but impatient." Although he married the widow of Welf Henry "the Proud", Gertrud, to consolidate his rule in the Duchy of Bavaria, but she died after a few years. The Bavarian reign brought feuds and wars, a conflict with the Hungarians was unfortunate and in the second crusade (1147-1149) Henry narrowly escaped the disaster. After all, he brought from this adventure the promise of a marriage with the niece of Emperor Manuel of Byzantium, Theodora, which was completed in 1148.
His nephew, Emperor Frederick I, called Barbarossa, had, in order to gain free political hand, come to a settlement with the Guelphs, who still - now in the person of Henry the Lion - made a claim to the duchies of Saxony and Bavaria. In September 1156, after tough negotiations at the Reichstag (Imperial Diet) in Regensburg, the Babenbergs returned the Bavarian Duke's Office and received a promotion for his country. The Mark Austria was spun off the Duchy of Bavaria, elevated to a duchy and Henry and his wife Theodora awarded in a solemn ceremony. The negotiated "privilege minus" laid a further foundation for the expansion of the country's rule.
Now Henry should have been granted two decades of quiet government: little is known about what is usually a good sign. Heinrich moved his residence from Klosterneuburg to the newly built Am Hof in Vienna where he founded the Schottenkloster (Scots' Monastery) in 1158, to which he called Iroschottische monks from the Jakobskloster (Monastery of Saint James) in Regensburg. In the long dispute between Emperor Frederick I Barbarossa and the Pope, he supported the Pope, but could largely stay out of the clashes. Towards the end of his reign, the conflicts with Bohemia around the northern forest piled up. At a campaign, Heinrich at Znaim fell from his horse and died as a result of a thigh break. He was buried in the Scots' Monastery in Vienna.
His epithet is said to come from his favorite saying "Yes, so help me God", which can not be proved. Perhaps it goes back to an Arabic name, which he brought in 1147 from the crusade. The phrase is documented for the 14th century and was originally called "Jochsamergott".
Herzog Heinrich II. (Jasomirgott)
*~1107 bis †13.1.1177
Biographie

Buzz Lightyear's classic catchphrase is "To infinity ... and beyond!" is a great choice for Steve Jobs' biography, since mathematicians have pointed out that it is not possible to go beyond infinity in mathematics.
After searching "Walter Isaacson" on Amazon.com, you will find almost all his books share the same layout of cover design -- a big title on the top, a highly visible "Walter Isaacson" on the bottom, and a huge famous face in the center.
This is the standard version of my imaginary covers of Steve Jobs' biography.
