BITH'S JUKEBOX #17
BASEMENT JAXX "BINGO BANGO"
(Edit 12/09/2008 : The black colour reverse on this now seems particularly appropriate as XL went bust this morning...another one never to Zoom out of Manchester again.)
Thanks to the spanglemaker for twigging that XL Airways shares its name with one of our favourite music labels of recent times. A band without any pretensions other than giving everyone a damn good time, Basement Jaxx have cut many a track for XL Records.
If you can't dance to this one, you really do have two left feet.

Day 234 of 365 (Thursday) - I had a few minutes before getting my haircut to try and get an image today, as my daughter was off sick from school again. I noticed a huge derelict building had a hole in a vent where pigeons were coming and going from. The building looked like it used to be a cinema or bingo hall. The vent was above the top of the entrance stairs, and below it was a HUGE pile of bird poo! Despite the poo I wanted to see how high it was possible to see up into the builiding (answer - hardly at all due to the darkness!), so straddled it to see if I could get a shot . I couldn't help thinking the birds wouldn't mind a shot at me too though, and I didn't fancy them chorusing 'bingo' as they splatted on my lens, so this was my "good enough" shot before I hurried along to my appointment.
Made the trip down to Janesville to see my grandmother. It coincided with her bingo day, so I tagged along - but didn't win.

Favorite MITAC Activity: Bingo loves the Arboretum and checking the plant and garden highlights. The MIT Library and Museum going virtual has given him a dose of culture!
Regent Bingo (Savoy), Spalding. Designed by Alfred John Thraves and opened 10th June 1937. Closed as a cinema in 1970 in favour of bingo. The circle foyer is lit by a very ornate art deco and leaded light window.
Spalding, Lincolnshire, Regent Bingo Club (former Savoy Cinema).
