Some pretty rad ice formations in the Big Thompson River this morning. Sadly there wasn't a single cloud due west, but I think this foreground more than makes up for it. Definitely will have to get back to this spot with a fiery sky before it all melts!

Fern Lake Trail, Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado. Near the beginning of a final hike into the Odessa Gorge, this time climbing from the bottom of the gorge upward to Odessa Lake. The Fern Lake Trail initially follows the Big Thompson River. The Pool is located 1.7 miles from the trailhead. Scanned from a Kodachrome slide.

There is a wonderful little river walk along the Big Thompson River in Estes Park, Colorado. When we were there in May, it even snowed a bit!

Riffles in the Big Thompson River where it flows through the meadow in Moraine Park. The Big Thompson begins in RMNP and flows 78 miles before merging with the South Platte River. You could walk across it here, but further downstream it becomes a rushing river that you would not want to try to cross.

As you can probably guess from the cloud shapes, the wind was howling when I shot this one, I had to push the tripod into the ground and hold it.

My favorite valley in Colorado, Moraine park is easy to get to from the Estes Park entrance of the Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado.

Made one more run through of Rocky Mountain National park. Here is some long exposure day time photography

...in Estes Park, Colorado...close to flood levels! Wow!!

Restaurants were busy in downtown Estes Park but only so much seating. Many stores back up to the river and this particular seating area went all the way down to the river.

We decided to shoot sunrise before snowshoeing in Rocky Mountain N.P. on Saturday. The wind was already blowing 40 mph and this pink cloud was moving fast.

A large group of people were waiting for restaurants. This area has a few steps that are in the water and allow visitors to cool off while they wait.
