I'm grateful for a grandmother who wore out every Bible she ever owned.

A children's bible that I read several times as a child which gave me a passing familiarity with many of the biblical stories. Mum's family Bible from Holland given to her by her grandmother.

The Good News Bible that was given to me when I finished Sunday School.

My religious beliefs are a bit, um, eclectic, to say the least but these three books have had a huge influence on me.

Well I simply had to take a pic of my Bible..which I haven't read lately..I should start again since I am supposed to read it from cover to cover

The Jewish version of the Bible, the Tanakh, is divided into three parts: the Teaching, the Prophets, and the Writings. The Christian version of the Bible includes books of the Tanakh, but includes additional books and reorganizes them into two parts: the books of the Old Testament primarily sourced from the Tanakh (with some variations), and the 27 books of the New Testament containing books originally written primarily in Greek.[2] Some versions of the Christian Bible have a separate Apocrypha section for the books not considered canonical by the tradition or sometimes the publisher.

As of 2003, the Bible, or some portion of it, has been translated into more than 2,300 languages or dialects.

The Bible is the collection of religious writings of Judaism and of Christianity.

I decided that first time round, my processing didn't do this photo justice, so I had to approach it again. Hopefully with better results...

Yes, I know Genesis is not in the middle of the Bible, but it was the only usable image I could find from Google...you think I'm gonna pipe on all those words??

What I have concluded is: a city is mostly a bunch of people, hoping, in different ways.

The passage on the page that caught my eye is

"...But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called “Today,”

The Gutenberg Bible is the first great book printed in Western Europe from movable metal type. The printing of the Bible was probably completed late in 1455 at Mainz, Germany.

The text of the Gutenberg Bible is the Latin translation known as the “Vulgate,” which was made by St. Jerome in the fourth century. The Bible is printed throughout in double columns, for the most part, with forty-two lines to a page. The capital letters and headings are ornamented by hand in color. The three volumes are in white pigskin bindings, which date from the sixteenth century.

The Library of Congress copy is printed entirely on vellum, a fine parchment made from animal skin, and is one of only three perfect vellum copies known to exist. The others are at the Bibliothèque Nationale and the British Library.

Today, 10 December 2017, the Second Sunday of Advent is Bible Sunday.

At the meeting at the Bible Society yesterday we were asked to talk about our first bible. There were two bibles in our house when I was a boy, my mother's and my father's. When I was at school we had a school bible. This one was bought for me by my parents on 4 October 1958, I was sixteen. However, the binding became worn so I had it re-bound in April 2003.

I've never picked up my camera during Bible Study, but tonight I did. Twice. I admit it, a true double standard exists in our house. Bogart gets plenty of loving at the start of the evening then again at the end each week, but he must spend the time we are truly studying on his mat. He knows this and does so without instruction. However, the felines are free to claim any place they desire. Gumbo spent time on my lap, Raven and Vidalia curled up on the back of the sofa, and Curio took advantage of multiple places. He started by wedging himself between a couple (see the photos in the comments). Curio stayed there, being stroked for a full forty five minutes, before transitioning to the above location. Visitors are always welcome in our household. My felines make sure they know it. Now if only Magnus didn't need to be shut in a kennel in our bedroom. . .

Philippians 4:13 Bible verse.

Earlier this year I could take a short trip to the Philippines where I visited my Friends who work there as missionaries.

In a small and poor Village near Manilla we organized a Kids Bible Club for three days.

They really did enjoy it and even asked later if we would do it once again.

Sainte-Anne-de-la-Pérade, Québec - mars 2024.

This photo I took some years back with a Kodak DX4900 camera. For props, I used my 100+ year old Family Bible [was given to my Great Grandfather upon his first marriage in 1898] and a cheap lantern I keep around the house.

For the past few years I have cultivated the habit of reading through the Bible each year. After rising in the morning, I make myself a mug of tea, open my battered NIV, and work through a few chapters of the Old Testament, and about half a chapter of the New.
