MACRO MONDAYS 'Bookmark' theme
My mothers bookmark and her favourite psalm. The bible belonged to my great, great grandfather who was born in 1817 and married in 1842, exactly 100 years before I arrived.

In Christian symbolism, slugs were associated with the devil, hence the remedy, cornflower, became a symbol of the Queen of Heaven, Mary and Christ.

Translating the verse as "Lord's anointed" is actually an interpretation- the literal meaning is Messiah (in Hebrew Mashiach - משיח).

My Great Grandfather had this Holy Bible rebound in 1869. My aunt passed it to me in a sorry state as can be seen in the bottom left image. Boards detached and the leather suffering from red rot. The boards and the leather needed replacing.
It is a half leather binding and I rebound it and stuck the remains of the original book cloth from the boards onto the new book cloth.
I used gold foil to do the tooling. I need to do more tooling so that I get lines and shapes accurately placed but I am happy that it should last a decent length of time.
The Rev Stopford Brooke had been rector at Slingsby in Yorkshire. All his sermon notes are written next to the relevant scriptural passages and also on extra blank pages that had been inserted at the rebind in 1869!

I woke up late and decided to go to the Harry Ransom Center instead of SXSW for part of the day. They have a Gutenberg Bible and just opened up an exhibit on the Beats.
Alright, so Holden (HMD) and I decided to do some Bible figures, because we thought it would be a fun thing to do. He made Rack, Shack, and Benny- uh I mean Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednigo, and I made Samson, John the Baptist, and a Pharoah figure.

This week my 52 Week Book Challenge was Street Photography . An early one from the book ( only No.4 ) and it is street photography - well out of my comfort zone and not something I tackle as a rule . Well I went into Leatherhead town centre last Sunday afternoon and once I had strolled up from the car park I could hear music and singing !! Just two shots , one a side view and this one - I was conscious of taking the shot but I think he was too wrapped up in his tune . If you look at the shot large you can see his tee-shirt logo and with the little cylindrical stone beside him there are leaflets to be seen .
Well for a novice I think this will do for my street shot .
The Statenvertaling is the first Bible translation from the original Hebrew and Greek languages to the Dutch language. The Statenvertaling Bible was first published in 1637.
I found this Bible here and it gave the place a friendly peace. Maybe it should also prevent evil spirits to visit this place.
At any rate, I have not changed anything in this place. Only the title of the book freed from the patina and ... photographed
Bible Rock (Batalegala in the Sinhala language) is a mountain near the town of Aranayake in Kegalle District in central Sri Lanka. It derives its name "Bible rock" from its resemblance to a book on a lectern.
Bible Rock Trail is considered a hard hike that covers 4.7 mi, with an elevation gain of 1,952 ft. It takes about 3.5–4 hr to complete. Hard trails usually cover longer distances, and may have long or steep climbs or more difficult obstacles.is rock can be seen when passing the Kadugannawa pass.

For upcoming shows at the Lucky Gator Loft:
In Sussex, they call dry valleys Bottoms. This one gets its name from the enclosure on the hillside which is thought to look like an opened bible. It becomes visible in the summer as the landscape dries out.
This is Holly, our graphics expert for the BYU ECE Department. She is sitting on the couch in our department office in a very cozy pose. She is reading the Christmas story in the Bible with a happy smile on her face.
